A group of our junior judoka have recently completed an intensive three-week training camp in Japan, alongside Performance Pathway coach Takafumi Kitakara 🎌🥋

During their time abroad, the group experienced world-class training environments, taking part in high-quality judo sessions at the University of Tsukuba, JR East Judo, and the Kodokan - the home of judo. Alongside their training, they explored Tokyo, attended a tournament at the Nippon Budokan, and caught up with two-time Olympic champions and friends, Shohei Ono and Takanori Nagase.

The past three weeks have been a fantastic experience, underlining the importance of offering international opportunities through our Performance Pathway Programme. Alongside their growth as athletes, the experiences gained and memories made are likely to stay with them well beyond their time on the mat.

From Kai to Dan grades, members of affiliated clubs have the opportunity to participate in a structured, nationally recognised grading pathway.

This major update follows a review of all grading schemes and builds on the success of the Mon Grade improvements introduced last year.
