Why I Love What I Do 🩵😁

Helping people reach their goals — no matter how big, small, or personal they may be — is genuinely one of the most satisfying parts of what I do.

A lot of people think I must love putting others through pain… but the truth is, there’s always a method behind the madness. Progress isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it burns, sometimes it challenges you mentally more than physically — but it’s all there for a reason. Growth happens outside the comfort zone.

I don’t coach for praise or recognition. I do it because I care, because I love seeing people push past the point they once thought was their limit. But I’ll be honest… hearing positive feedback from those I’ve helped means the world. It reminds me that this is exactly where I’m meant to be.

“I haven’t got time.”

It’s probably the most common thing I hear as a coach.

But here’s the truth — if you really want something, you’ll find the time.

Whether it’s a fitness goal, a career goal, or something personal, it all comes down to one thing:
Do you actually want it enough?

Because time won’t suddenly appear. You have to make it. You have to look at your week and decide what matters most.

Right now, my focus is on running and improving my overall fitness and strength. So I know Wednesday mornings are my run time — it’s in the diary, non-negotiable.

If you’ve got goals, start planning your week around them. Use the gaps you do have, not the ones you wish you had.

Small, consistent actions always win. 🕒

💭 “Why do we need to change the reps?”

💭 “Why are you always telling me to slow down? I just want to get it over with!”

I’ve been asked this a lot recently — and no, it’s not just me picking on you 😉
There is a method to the madness!

Here’s a simple breakdown of why we change reps and why I ask you to slow things down👇🏿



🔢 Changing Rep Ranges

Different rep ranges give your body different benefits:
🏋️‍♀️ 1–5 reps → Builds pure strength and power
💪🏿6–12 reps → Builds muscle size and tone
🔥 12–20+ reps → Builds muscular endurance and stamina

Mixing these up means you don’t hit a plateau — your body keeps adapting, getting stronger, leaner, and fitter.



⏱️ Why I Make You Slow Down (Time Under Tension)

When you slow things down, your muscles work harder for longer.
This is called Time Under Tension (TUT) — how long your muscles are working during a set.

💥 More tension = more muscle activation
🧠 Better control and technique
🦵 Stronger, more defined muscles
🦴 Less stress on joints
🔥 And a much more effective workout overall

So next time I tell you to slow it down or change the rep range, just remember —

HYROX Birmingham 2025 💥

This year I’ve trained hard — cut back on certain things, taken more rest between sessions, and really focused on my overall fitness, strength, and technique. It hasn’t been easy, especially with training for the ATHX event just a week before HYROX 😅

But I came into this one feeling in the best condition I’ve been in for a long time. 🙌

I won’t lie though… the late start tested my positivity. I wasn’t really feeling it — not because I couldn’t do it, but because I just couldn’t be bothered. But the moment I hit that Ski Erg, everything changed. From that point, I enjoyed every single minute 💪🏿

A 2-minute PB followed, and I couldn’t be happier with how it all came together!

I’ll be stepping back from doing the full HYROX events for now (maybe a relay in the future 👀), but this whole experience has reminded me that no matter how tough things feel, you can get through it — and hard work will always bring results. 🫶🏾

✨ HYROX Birmingham – Jess’ Journey ✨

Jess came to me wanting to get ready for HYROX Birmingham — to build strength and work on the elements she felt she struggled with. From the start, she was honest about being her own biggest critic, often battling the “I can’t” mindset instead of “I can.”

So, we took things one step at a time. Focused on breathing through frustration, refining technique on stations, and building confidence with every session. I pushed Jess out of her comfort zone — and at times, it was emotional — but that’s exactly what HYROX is all about: stepping into discomfort and proving to yourself that you can.

All the hard work paid off with a 2-minute PB 💪 and the best moment of all — seeing the emotion as she crossed that finish line 🖤

That’s exactly what I said to Jess today during our first session together.

Confidence is one of the biggest things holding her back right now — but that’s something we’re going to work on together. Building that can and will do mindset, step by step.

HYROX CARDIFF 🏁
Let’s start with the one negative… getting zero sleep the night before, thanks to the Cardiff student nightlife 😩😂

But honestly, what a day. Getting to take on HYROX again, with one of my best friends, was something special. We came into it with uncertainty — Kate picked up an injury in the lead-up, and we weren’t even sure if she’d be able to make it to the start line.

But not only did we get through it — we smashed our previous time by 5 minutes 💥

I’ve been training hard since the last one, and it definitely showed. The runs felt smooth, and stations that used to be my downfall (yes, lunges and burpees, I’m looking at you) felt so much more controlled and strong.

Huge thank you to Cardiff and the HYROX community — the atmosphere was next level 🙌🏿

Next stop: ATHX and HYROX Birmingham. The work doesn’t stop
