..as the circle of friends gathering at Regents Park increased, so did the hunger to play their favourite sport at a friendly but in a competetive atmosphere. Very soon a name for the team emerged as CORONA Cricket Club. In 2005 CORONA entered and and successfully clinched the 'All London Cricket League' title. The clubs founders were: Mr A Naser, Mr D Paul, Mr S Ezdi. After tasting success in its first year of competetive outing, we sought more success. Unfortunately, with success we needed funds to pay for operating costs. Until then, the club had been runing on the generous donations made my its founders. Unfortunately, the club had to cease playing league cricket due to expensive costs - but decided to meet at at least couple of times a year to play friendly matches...
..the high spirit of cricket re-emerged amongst some of the co-founders of CORONA and decided to make cricket a community sport rather than just fulfiling individual satisfaction. We decided to take cricket to our community because this is something that we can offer to our friends, families, neighbours, and visitors. Everyone will agree that sports is a strong medium of unity. And, we all have duties and responsibilities towards our society...

SCINTILLA CRICKET CLUB was formed in May, 2006. We identified ourself as a Barking & Dagenham based club with the aim of making the club accessible to whole of East London. We want to contribute to building a:

1. stronger and safer commuinity;
2. integrated and cohesive community;
3. sustainable community; and
4. sustainable environment. Scintilla CC so far:

In 2007 joined Elliot Devis London Cricket League Division 3 and clinched the title by beating all the teams comprehensively.We also took away most individual awards as well. Both Babel Ahmed and Biplob Islam were individual highest run maker in the league.

Scintilla CC Seal Comfortable Victory Over 𝗥𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯🔥

Scintilla CC secured a dominant six-wicket win over Royal Tigers CC in a clinical all-round performance.

Royal Tigers CC Innings

Batting first, Royal Tigers CC struggled to build partnerships and were bowled out for 124 in 28.3 overs. Sojib Uddin Shahi top-scored with a gritty 22, while Ruhin Ruhin added 24 in the middle order. However, regular wickets hampered their momentum.

Scintilla’s bowling attack was disciplined and relentless, with Rifat Mahmud leading the charge, finishing with impressive figures of 4/41 from 9 overs. Bilal Khan (2/23), Junaid Malik (2/18), and Aqib Ejaz (2/33) provided excellent support, sharing the remaining wickets.

Scintilla CC Innings

In reply, Scintilla CC chased down the target with ease, reaching 126/4 in just 16.2 overs. Opener Bilal Khan fell for a duck early, but Captain Adil Ijaz anchored the innings with a commanding unbeaten 73 off just 51 balls, including 10 boundaries and 3 sixes.

He was well supported by Munhib Syed (14) and later by quick cameos from Sajal Rahman (10 off 4) and Younus Ali (18 off 12), which ensured the chase was completed comfortably.

Despite some resistance from Royal Tigers’ bowlers—Masum Ahmed picking up 2 wickets—Scintilla’s aggressive batting ensured there were no major hiccups.

🔥 Scintilla CC Cruise to 88-Run Victory Over Noak Hill CC 🔥

Scintilla CC delivered a dominant all-round performance to secure a convincing 88-run victory over Noak Hill CC in their Division 2 encounter of the Essex and East London Cricket League on Saturday, 5 July 2025.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first at their home ground, Scintilla posted a competitive 200 all out in 35 overs. The innings was anchored by Sajal Rahman, who played a fluent knock of 48 runs off 67 balls, including 6 fours. Contributions from Bilal Khan (22 off 25) and Shehreyar Rauf (20 off 24) helped build momentum through the middle overs.

Despite a few quick wickets from Ajinkya Pande (3/33) and Shaheyar Alam (2/51), Scintilla managed to reach the 200-mark, thanks to useful lower-order runs.

In reply, Noak Hill CC struggled to build partnerships and were bundled out for 112 in just 22.5 overs. Only Faiz Rasool (22 off 24) and Ahmad Yasir (34 off 39) showed some resistance with the bat.

Scintilla’s bowlers were relentless, led by a fiery spell from Bilal Khan, who claimed 5 wickets for 36 runs in his 7.5 overs. Junaid Malik also impressed with 2/22, while Younus Ali (Shamim) kept it tight with 1/14.

Noak Hill’s innings never got going as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, with five batters failing to get off the mark.

This comprehensive win earns Scintilla CC 20 valuable points, keeping their promotion hopes very much alive, while Noak Hill CC walk away with just 6 points.
