A great long weekend in the Cairngorms. Winter skills training with . such an amazing place to hang out. Takeaways included; crampons can and will destroy anything in their path. Also I made a little friend at my campsite.

The last few days have been in the lakes for an invaluable rope work masterclass with . Graham is such a friendly and welcoming mountaineering instructor. We had a fantastic day refreshing our ML rope work skills and as it was a reduced size group we got extra practice to boot! Polished off with an ace park up in Bampton. Don’t tell the cops.

A great day guiding for today. A lovely walk from Hartington YHA through Wolfscote Dale and Narrowdale. A really friendly group of Engineers on their annual team building weekend. It was a pleasure to be outdoors.

Yorkshire Three Peaks. Ran the mother!
A long rolling hills session was on the plan so I headed out and camped at Holme Farm campsite, where I last stayed over thirty years ago in my last Y3P outing. The weather was pretty bad overnight but it held out during the day and I even managed to get some sunburn on my pasty legs. Top day. Even better now there is a tea machine just before Ingleborough!

The Social Trap!!!
Cons are definitely outweighing any pros at the moment.
I find that social media is just a platform for narcissists and is the biggest time leech known to man.
I’ve got some great things lined up for next season and I’ll aim to stick to monthly updates but I’ll pop on here if and when I’ve got something to say.
Peace out 🎤⬇️

Well that was one way to see the Cheviots!
Our final shift on the Spine Safety Team was an eventful one. Just before we were due to start we heard that a runner had activated his SOS button up near Hut 2 on the Cheviot Hills. MRT had been called and were en route to the incident. At the same time, another runner had been reported as being in distress nearby. Word came down from the hill that he had been met by a member of Hut 2 who was walking him down to the hut until could be extracted by SST(us). The Hut cant be reached by vehicle so we could get as close as we could by Land Rover and then walk up from there. On arrival we found the runner to be very confused, exhausted and quite belligerent. Refusing food, hot drinks and any help in general. After an assessment it was decided that rest was guys main priority and that we would walk him off the hill in the daylight. After 5ish hours we managed to wake home and get some food and drink into him. From then on it was a steady walk down to the vehicle and a safe delivery to the finish at Kirk Yetholm.

Less than two weeks to go now and I’ll be working on the Spine race again! This time as a team leader on the safety team. Good sleep deprivation prep for my own race in January! Cant wait to get back on the Pennine way rollercoaster from Edale to Kirk Yetholm
