When I’m feeling low, I ask myself a simple question…
‘Am I really feeling s**t, or am I just not doing the things that make me feel good?’
These are the things that make me feel good and keep me staying in process
I believe they are the 6 key daily practices that give someone that feeling of fulfilment when going to bed at night
Moving your body
Fuelling your body
Clearing your mind
Protecting your mind
Building your life
Connecting with life
I simply look at each one and think, ‘have I done this today?’
If not, I know exactly why I’m feeling off and I know exactly what I need to do
If I can’t get out of my head, I get into my body
If my body feels restless, I get into my mind
And when both feel heavy, I connect with life
Be that just getting outdoors, meeting up with mates, going for a coffee with someone, or spinning some records
I’m a simple man who is easily pleased
But back to the processes and practices…
The trick is to make it stupidly simple to hit each one
That way, even on the days where life is throwing you all kinds of problems or excuses
You can still keep moving in the right direction
Stopping that all or nothing mindset I know myself and so many others can be guilty of
It’s easy to workout or check-in on your progress when you feel good
But it is crucial to at least show up when you don’t feel like it
For me, if for whatever reason I’m struggling to do my programmed session
I at least do something
15 mins of skipping or a quick 15 minute bodyweight workout
Now that 15 minute session might not drastically improve my performance levels
But it reaffirms my identity
It’s not about what happens in the workout
It’s about becoming the type of person who doesn’t miss a workout
Identity first.
Processes second.
Outcomes last. Always.
If you’re always focusing on the outcome, you won’t see progress
Staying in process is the key to seeing progress🫡
