Yet Another Award for Newham Swords Fencing Club!

Ahead of celebrating our 21st year of running Newham Swords Fencing Club, we are very proud to announce that we are the recipient of the Greater London Enterprise Award for "2026 Leading Youth Fencing Club". This is in recognition of our "excellent youth development and community sports programmes".

Many thanks to our coaches (Pierre Harper, Linda Strachan, Emilija Lukaite, Denis Cranwell and Malcolm Knox) and the whole of the Newham Swords Family who all made a contribution to this special award.

Well done to all our fencers who competed at last weekend's British Cadet and Junior Championships.

Congratulations to Darcy Attwood who achieved a personal best when taking Bronze in the Women's Foil U17 Championships (aged just 14), and to Farah Viegas-Trimble (aged just 12) who came 23rd.

Well done also to James Hernon (aged 15) and Tyler Osborne (aged 14) who came 14th and 26th place respectively in the Men's Foil U17 Championships, and to Jamaal lbn Mahbub who came 48th in the Men's Foil Junior Championships.

A big shout out to our coaches, Pierre Harper and Linda Strachan, who did a fantastic job of looking after our fencers.

Congratulations to both Jamaal lbn Mahbub and Farah Viegas-Trimble who both achieved personal bests at last weekend's U20 BRC A Foil Event.

Well done to Jamaal for achieving 14th place, and to Farah Viegas-Trimble (aged just 13) for being placed 22nd.

Congratulations to Georgia Silk and Holly Thompson who came 5th and 7th respectively in the Individual Event at last weekend's British Senior Championships. Well done also on their 7th place (with Darcy Attwood) in the team event.

A big thanks to Head Coach, Pierre Harper, who looked after them all.

Congratulations also to club-mate, Sophia Chu, who made the top 16 at the EFC U14 Zrenjanin International.
