π¨Match Report: Hatherley & Reddings Hawks 2nd XI vs Cam Ladies (35 Overs) β 12th July 2026 π¨
Cam Ladies dig deep in scorching conditions to secure another league victory
With temperatures soaring well into the 30s, Cam Ladies travelled to South Park to face Hatherley & Reddings Hawks 2nd XI in a Gloucestershire Womenβs 35-over League fixture. After winning the toss, captain Marlene Brown elected to field first, meaning Cam would bear the brunt of the afternoon heat. With very little breeze offering relief, the players faced the toughest conditions of the day, making their energy, commitment and determination in the field all the more impressive.
Camβs bowlers wasted little time making their mark. Vicky Scooter Mansell-Mei produced a sensational opening spell, combining accuracy, movement and relentless pressure to dismantle the Hawksβ top order. Finishing with outstanding figures of 6 for 15 from six overs, including two maidens, Vicky set the tone for one of Camβs finest bowling displays of the season. Her incredible performance also earned her another well-deserved Baggy Green for the season.
Excellent support came from Amelie Bouvier, who claimed two important wickets, while Tara J and Diane Duxbury each picked up a wicket. Despite the relentless heat, Cam backed up their bowlers with disciplined, energetic fielding, cutting off boundaries, applying pressure throughout the innings and refusing to let the conditions affect their intensity. Their efforts were rewarded as Hatherley & Reddings were bowled out for 137 in just 28 overs.
Knowing the chase would require patience as much as positivity, Camβs batters approached the target with composure. Emma Vincent led the way with a fluent 28, while captain Marlene Brown added a valuable 20 to lay a solid foundation.
As wickets fell at regular intervals, the game remained finely poised. Claire Moran then produced a calm and composed unbeaten 36, anchoring the innings superbly. Alongside Diane Duxbury, who remained unbeaten at the other end, Claire guided Cam to 138 for 6, sealing a deserved four-wicket victory with almost six overs remaining.
While Vickyβs six-wicket haul will rightly grab the headlines, this was a victory built on true teamwork. Every player contributed, whether with bat, ball or in the field, and the resilience shown throughout an afternoon spent fielding in extreme heat was a testament to the character of this Cam side. To maintain that level of focus and effort for 28 overs in such demanding conditions before calmly chasing down the target made this one of the teamβs most complete performances of the season.
A huge thank you, as always, to our supporters, scorer Annette Casse , and umpire Andy and everyone working tirelessly behind the scenes. Your support continues to make a huge difference.
