Newton Aycliffe Sports Club 0-0 Brandon Sports Club

With over 10 players missing we took a small squad including the gaffer and treasurer over to Aycliffe and it was almost a perfect return had it not been for the heroics of the Aycliffe goalkeeper. We controlled the game from start to finish but were at times wasteful in the final third but also it just wouldn't go into the back of the net as the Aycliffe stopper was in fine form. Great to see the depth in the squad dominate the game with some outstanding football played and on another day we take the three points home, but we'll settle for a point on this occasion.

Credit to Aycliffe, a good young organised side, good craic and well refereed by the young lad in the middle.

We go again Sunday away to Bede Lodge in the cup.

Brobbey Murray Hat Trick Plucks The Duck!!

Brandon Sports Club 3-1 The Drunken Duck

Following a disappointing defeat midweek, the lads bounced back in ruthless fashion against last seasons Division 2 champions. The lads started the game reasonably well but there were no chances to note at either end. A sin bin for the Duck gave us a man advantage but again we never really got into any real danger areas. The Duck went ahead midway through the first half and following some enforced changes, we started to come back into the game. MOM Robbie Murray got the first of his hat trick from the spot following a clear foul in the box on the stroke of half time.

Second half was much like the first in a lot of ways where neither keeper was really forced into any real action, with the battle being mostly in the middle of the park. The game lacked any real quality until Murray got his second of the game with a thunderbastard of a free kick low to the keeper's left who was rooted to the spot. The Duck pushed on but our backline remained resolute and on 75 minutes Murray got his third with a calm right foot finish into the bottom corner.

Everyone played their part today against a team who rarely lose, with very few chances in the game we've wrapped up a fantastic win which makes it two wins out of three in the league.

Bede Lodge 4-2 Brandon Sports Club

Frustrating night last night. Gave some poor goals away, scored two, had two disallowed for questionable offsides, hit the post, hit the bar, missed chance after chance in the second half. It just wasn't our night.

Division 1 result - Brandon Sports FC 4-1 Coundon Miners

Absolutely fantastic start to our campaign tonight as we made a winning start thanks to a quality team performance from the lads. The first half was pretty much one way traffic from us as we did everything right but score, missing good opportunities and failing to really test the Coundon keeper.

Second half instructions were to keep the momentum up and to take our chances and with the first attack of the half a teasing ball from Jordan Grosert found Robbie Murray who rose highest to plant a header into the net, claims of an OG but nobody taking that away from him. We never stopped grafting for the whole game, MOM Matthew Griffiths putting in a tireless shift in the middle of the park before swapping out to LB after a nasty looking injury to Louis Mudd (speedy recovery lad). We continued to threaten and with some great link up play again down the right hand side, Jordan Blinco fired a perfect ball inside to Peter Amaraegbu who slammed an unstoppable strike in off the bar. Fair play to Coundon they wouldn't lie down and got themselves back into the game with a quality strike from the edge of the box, they created a couple more chances however our goalkeeper Kieran Turnbull was in fine form. Amaraegbu was a constant threat and was brought down in the area not long after we conceded, with Ryan Wright sending the keeper the wrong way. Our skipper Robson Brown wrapped the game up with ten minutes to go with a fine close range finish and also had another well taken goal ruled out for offside.
