🥾⛰️ TRAINING HIKE IN THE SPERRINS! ⛰️🥾
On Saturday 22nd August, our Scouts and Ventures joined up with 6th Fermanagh Scouts for a fantastic training hike in the beautiful Sperrin Mountains. 🌿🏕️
Starting from Gortin Glen, the group took on a challenging 14km loop taking in Curraghcosaly and Robbers Table. 🥾💪
It was a fabulous day out, with plenty of walking, teamwork, craic and amazing scenery along the way! 🌄
Our Scouts and Ventures absolutely loved it and did a fantastic job taking on the challenge. 👏💚
A huge thank you to 6th Fermanagh Scouts for joining us and making it such a great day!

9th–11th May

For the first time ever, 10th Tyrone Scouts proudly had an all-female contingent represent the group at a National MPC event. Four of our Year 10 Scouts — Alanna Nugent, Mollie Cait Hamil, Aoife O’Kane, and Ríona Deane — travelled to Sneem, Co. Kerry to take part in the Munster MPC.

This challenging three-day event tested both physical endurance and resilience, as Scouts were required to carry all of their survival equipment while trekking along the Kerry Way.

The adventure began on Friday evening at Sneem GAA pitch, where the team set off on a 5km hike to low camp. Battling wet, cold conditions and darkness, they successfully set up camp for the night.

Saturday started early at 7am with breakfast before taking on an intense 12km hike across seven summits in the Kerry mountains. After a long and demanding day, they reached high camp at Lough Coomanassig around 6pm, where they cooked their meals and rested for the night.

On Sunday morning, the Scouts were rewarded with beautiful sunshine and breathtaking views across the mountains as they made their way back down to Sneem. The group departed Kerry around 12pm and arrived home in Killeeshil at 7pm.

As a reward for their incredible effort, each Scout earned the Munster MPC badge — one quarter of the prestigious MPC diamond award. To complete the diamond, Scouts must also earn badges from MPC events in Ulster, Leinster, and Connaught.

To our knowledge, no Scout in Erne County has yet achieved the full diamond badge. However, Alanna Nugent is currently on track to do so, with the final step being the Leinster MPC this October.

An outstanding achievement and a proud moment for 10th Tyrone Scouts ladies.
