If I could only give someone ONE fat loss tip, it would be this:

Eat more protein.

Protein fills you up better than carbs or fats, so you naturally eat less without constantly thinking about food.

Your body also burns energy digesting it, meaning you use more calories just by eating it compared with other nutrients.

And the biggest bonus?

Protein helps you keep the muscle you’ve worked hard to build. More muscle means a higher calorie burn at rest and a better chance of keeping the weight off long term.

If calorie tracking isn’t for you, don’t start by obsessing over numbers.

Start by making sure every meal contains a good source of protein.

Simple changes done consistently beat perfect plans you never stick to.

DM me TONED if you want to learn how I use this with my clients.

Mounjaro doesn’t magically fix the problem that made Weight Watchers, Slimming World and every crash diet fail.

If all you do is eat less, you’ll lose weight. But if you don’t lift weights and eat enough protein, you’ll also lose muscle.

Less muscle = a slower metabolism.

Then when your appetite comes back and you start eating more, you’re trying to maintain your weight with a body that burns fewer calories than before. That’s why so many people regain the weight.

I’m a big supporter of GLP-1 medications, but they’re a tool, not the whole solution.

Use the reduced appetite to build better habits, prioritise protein and strength train, and you give yourself a much better chance of keeping the weight off long term instead of starting the cycle all over again.

DM me TONED if you want to learn how to use Mounjaro properly.

If you’re on Mounjaro, Wegovy, Ozempic or any other GLP-1 medication and you’re in Fife, I’ve put together a completely free fitness community to help you get the best results possible.

Inside you’ll find simple advice on training, protein, muscle retention, fat loss, motivation, and building habits that actually stick long after the injections.

No catch, no payment, and no pressure to become a client. Just good information and a supportive community for people trying to improve their health.

The group is pinned right at the top of my page, so it’s easy to find. If you know someone who could benefit from it, send them over.

3 ways to stop getting absolutely stitched up when you come off Mounjaro or other weight loss injections.

1. Lift weights and build as much muscle as you can.
Muscle burns more calories than fat and gives you a bigger buffer when your appetite comes back.
2. Use the reduced appetite to build better eating habits.
Learn portions, prioritise protein, and eat mostly whole foods now while it’s easier instead of waiting until the medication stops.
3. Increase your daily movement.
Walk more. Park further away. Take the stairs. Get your steps up. These small habits add up to hundreds of calories over a week without feeling like “cardio.”

The injection helps you lose the weight.

These habits are what give you the best chance of keeping it off.

Really kind words from one of my awesome clients.

If you’re looking for honest, practical advice around mental health, I’d definitely recommend checking out her page. She shares a lot of valuable information and genuinely knows what she’s talking about.

A wee shout-out to Matthew at Dixon Fitness.

I’ve tried gym memberships before, followed plans on apps, and told myself I’d do workouts at home… but for me, nothing compares to having a PT in person.

Matthew keeps me accountable, which is exactly what I need. On the days I can’t be bothered or would happily talk myself out of exercising, I know I’ve got a session booked and someone waiting for me. That alone has made a huge difference.

What I love most is that he genuinely cares about his clients. He’s supportive, knowledgeable, encouraging and somehow manages to make exercising enjoyable (which I never thought I’d say!).

Our sessions are never just about the workout either. We put the world to rights, have some great conversations, plenty of laughs, and before I know it the hour is over.

After everything my body has been through this year, getting back into exercise felt quite overwhelming. Matthew has helped me rebuild my confidence and reminded me that fitness isn’t about being perfect—it’s about showing up and doing what you can.

And yes… I was absolutely chuffed to receive my Dixon Fitness water bottle! It’s amazing how excited a grown woman can get over a water bottle, but here we are! 😂

If you’re looking for a PT who is knowledgeable, approachable, supportive and genuinely invested in helping you achieve your goals, I honestly couldn’t recommend Matthew enough.

Thank you for all the encouragement, support and accountability. It really does make a difference. ❤️🌈

I used to think motivation was completely useless.

I’d hear people say “I’m not motivated” and my answer was always:

“Good. Be disciplined.”

And while discipline is important, I think I was too harsh on motivation.

Looking back, motivation matters because it’s often what gets you started in the first place.

The mistake is expecting motivation to carry you forever.

What I’ve realised is that motivation is heavily influenced by your environment.

If all your friends do is smoke, drink, and sit around all weekend…

If everyone in your house lives on takeaways…

If nobody around you exercises…

Getting started is going to feel much harder.

On the other hand, if you’re surrounded by people who train, eat reasonably well, and have goals, staying motivated becomes much easier.

That’s why changing your environment can be more powerful than trying to “want it more.”

Discipline keeps you going.

Motivation gets you moving.

And your environment influences both.

If you’re struggling to stay consistent, stop asking “What’s wrong with me?”

Start asking, “What around me is making this harder than it needs to be?”

If you’re a woman over 40, lifting weights isn’t optional.

Every year, you naturally lose muscle mass if you don’t give your body a reason to keep it.

Less muscle means a slower metabolism, less strength, poorer balance, and finding everyday tasks harder as you age.

The good news?

Your body responds incredibly well to strength training, even if you’ve never touched a weight before.

You don’t need endless cardio.

You don’t need to spend hours in the gym.

You need progressive strength training that challenges your muscles and tells your body to keep them.

The goal isn’t just looking better.

It’s being strong enough to carry the shopping, play with the grandkids, stay independent, and maintain your quality of life for decades to come.

If you’re over 40 and not strength training yet, now is the time to start.

DM me “STRONG” and I’ll show you where to begin.

If you’re on Mounjaro and feeling dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or getting headaches…

Before blaming the injection, check your hydration.

A lot of people on Mounjaro eat significantly less food, which means they’re also getting fewer electrolytes from their diet.

On top of that, when you’re not sitting down for regular meals, it’s surprisingly easy to forget to drink enough water too.

Now add summer heat into the mix and you’ve got the perfect recipe for dehydration.

Not every symptom is caused by the injection itself.

Sometimes it’s as simple as not getting enough fluids and electrolytes.

Keep your water intake high, consider your electrolyte intake, and don’t let hydration become the thing holding back your results.

A lot of people almost whisper it when they tell me…

“By the way, I’m on Mounjaro.”

As if it’s something they should be embarrassed about.

Why?

If someone starts going to the gym, we praise them.

If someone improves their diet, we praise them.

If someone takes a medically prescribed tool to help improve their health, suddenly people have an opinion.

I’ve had clients hesitate to tell me they’re using weight loss injections because they’re worried about being judged.

You don’t need to apologise for taking action to improve your health.

Mounjaro isn’t a shortcut to health. It’s a tool. Just like a treadmill, a meal plan, or a personal trainer is a tool.

The goal isn’t how you lose the weight.

The goal is improving your health, confidence, mobility, and quality of life.

If you’re making positive changes and becoming healthier, that’s something to be proud of, not ashamed of.

Your Apple Watch is lying to you.

Well… maybe not lying. More like massively overestimating.

If your watch says you burned 600 calories, there’s a good chance the real number is much lower.

The problem?

People see that number and think they’ve earned an extra takeaway, chocolate bar, or “cheat meal” that wipes out their calorie deficit.

Use your watch to track activity, not to decide how much food you can eat.

Your calorie target should be based on results, not whatever number your wrist made up today.

DM me “TONED” if you want to lose fat without getting confused by fitness app nonsense.
