Victory in Ards!
Our legion of loyal fans were treated to a 5 goal classic yesterday down in Drome Park 
The Geriatricos started the stronger, offering plenty of threat and creating the more solid chances. Persistence eventually paid off when a teasing cross from Wack was met with a deft finish from Binksy on the 6yd line. 1-0
The chances kept mounting up but we were beginning to be frustrated by the well organised defence of our opponents, not to mention their goalkeeper who was outstanding throughout. After squandering a few opportunities that on another day we’d have tucked away, Shiner ran on to another beautiful through ball from Wack and tucked away into the bottom corner with a brilliant curling strike. HT 2-0
Malahide came flying out of the traps in the second half and really put us to the sword. The combination of 89 degree heat and the heavy sand pitch was taking its toll on us, despite our elite level athleticism… some tidy footwork on the edge of our box from their big number 9 ended with an absolute rocket right up into the stanchion of our net. You don’t save those. 2-1
A few subs to freshen up with fresh legs and we went on the offensive once again, finally being rewarded when Wack who completed his hattrick of assists rolled one unchallenged across the goal line where it was met by Jordan who had made an uncharacteristic run. 3-1
Malahide weren’t going to take it lying down and actually finished the stronger of the two teams. A speculative shot come cross ended up hanging in the middle of the goal, and despite also receiving a boot to the face, their brave on rushing forward made sure the ball crossed the line. Game on 3-2
With mere seconds left on the clock a foul just outside our box led to a last gasp opportunity for the visitors to equalize - a well struck effort but equally well dealt with by Ginger Matt and we got it clear and held onto the result.

What an absolute bunch of gentlemen we had as opposition yesterday. A fantastic tightly contested game, no yapping or gurning - and brilliant craic in the bar afterwards. This is the sort of game we love to play, so thankyou lads. Looking forward to the return leg
