Two games one report this week.
First up we took on Blackness at South Rd.
Kado produces a good save early doors but would get beaten in 5 mins by his own teammate. Davie is stretching to get his head on a long ball and it loops over our keeper and in.
1-0
It's all square just after the half hour mark as Xander takes a quick throw which has Max running in on goal. He finishes well into the far corner.
1-1
We go a goal up just before the half when Davie wins the ball at the back and plays it to Burkey who in turn splits the defence with a pass to Max. He takes the ball forward down the middle and drills his shot past the keeper.
2-1
In 55 mins Blackness get an equaliser from a front post finish from a corner.
2-2
We have a few very good chances to ahead. The ball gets caught in the long grass as Xander goes through, Xander with a header over and we get in behind but the keeper saves.
The deciding goal comes on 80 mins as a long kick from their keeper bounces once and their striker thrashes it in to the top corner. Kado no chance.
3-2 FT
Signs of improvement after our recent run of poor form. Played some okay football on the very long grass but lost the battles.
All the best to Blackness AFC.
Next up it was Arbroath AFC at Lochee after a check of the Riverside pitches found no lines.
After a bit of sparring early on we get the opener as Burkey swings a corner low and hard that catches out Arbroath and goes straight in.
1-0 10 mins.
2 mins later we score again. Kado, complete with Petr Cech helmet, goes long with the wind and Jamie gets in behind and finishes well.
2-0
We're playing much better than the last few games and stringing some passes together and get a free kick about 5 yards outside the box on the right.
Burkey steps up and smacks it in the postage stamp/ top bins.
No keeper is getting that.
3-0
In the second half we push for a fourth. Burkey plays Gaulty through 1 on 1. He takes it to the keeper but his shot is saved. Max almost gets a tap in but the defender clears just ahead of him.
Zak S does score but it's ruled out for offside.
With 20 odd to go Arbroath's mounting pressure pays off with a shot right in the corner just out off Kados reach.
3-1
The last 10-15 see lots of players out on their feet with both teams only having a few subs. But we keep Arbroath from getting any real chances and take the win.
3-1 FT
Better from us in this game to end on a wee high after a disappointing recent run that has seen us throw away a position in the promotion places.
All the best to Arbroath FC Amateurs who have had a great season.
Some good displays from Mack and Captain Ben but LB Burkey gets MoM.
And that's the season done.
5th place in the league which is an improvement on last season.
Scored more and conceded less with a +37 goal difference this season compared to a -4 last year.
So while we're all disappointed with our poor run in we'll take the positives into next season.
Last weekend we had our end of season night out at The Campbeltown Bar and a good night was had by all.
Some good (Barrie) and bad (everyone else) karaoke was performed and awards were dished out.
Top Scorer: Xander. Just 2 off top scorer in the league.
Coaches Player: Xander
Players Player: Davie
Best Teammate: Kaden
