New kits and new sponsors for the ladies at Sheffield FC

Game day 1 following the title winning season last time out. A lunchtime kickoff but that didn’t stop the girls starting the game perfectly with our first shot on goal after 1 minute giving us the lead, Jade with her first of the season.

The girls didn’t let up and kept pushing forward, great link up play with Immy, Emilia and Jersey seeing more chances created. The pressure led to a chance to double the lead which Jade took for her second of the game.

The girls were now in total control of the game, wave after wave of attacks kept coming, the passing and movement at time was excellent to watch. The home side started to come in to the game for the last 10 mins of the half and were rewarded with a goal of their own.

HT 1-2

The second half was a little more of an even affair. Wednesday tried to play more direct and caused us a few problems but a couple of excellent saves from Chloe kept us in the lead. After making a few changes the girls took control again, pressing higher up the pitch and passing the ball well again.

We took a firmer control of the game when a ball broke to Lottie outside the area and she hit it well to make it 3-1. Less than a minute later a smart turn and strike from Immy went over the keeper to make it 4-1.

That’s how the game finished and a win to mark our return to Division 2.

First game of the season, let’s go!

Not long now until the new season kicks off. A new challenge for the girls after a successful promotion season last time out.

Just 8 girls still with the team from the last time we graced Div 2 so a new challenge for most.

Here is how we start the season.

What a beautiful day for a game of football as we faced our friends at Beighton Magpies in a pre season friendly. Both teams had players away so just one sub for us on a bare 12 for Beighton.

The girls started just how we finished last season with some great flowing football. A few chances came and went before we were hit with a goal against the run of play. If was a fantastic goal though I must say finished really well from distance.

This didn’t knock the girls at all and we continued to play some great football but went in the end of the first third 1-0 down.

The second third was pretty much kick the first, us dominating the ball whilst Beighton always looked dangerous on the break. We got back into the game when good strong play from Summer saw her break away and slot hike. It was Summer again to see us take the lead thundering a shot home right at the end of the second third to make it 2-1 Sheffield FC.

Final third and both sides were starting to get a little tired so the game was stretched. That works to our advantage twice and saw two excellent goals from Jade and a first for the club from Immy.

Final score: Sheffield FC 4 - 1 Beighton
