Todays Session was titled “Simply Strong”

Do your workouts make you stronger? Or just make you tired?

After the age of 30, for men and women alike, our bodies begin to lose muscle mass and strength - at a rate of roughly 3% to 8% per decade - and that speeds up after 50

Strength drops faster than size, about three tImes faster, which means you’ll be weak and fragile before you even notice.

Time is precious, time is limited, and time is ticking, so you must work smart to slow this natural decline, to maintain muscle mass, and bone density, to stay mobile, independent, to regulate your blood sugar and insulin sensitivity and to add healthy, active years to your life.

The only way to beat the ageing clock and stay capable is to;

LIFT WEIGHTS - (but also, remember to eat your protein and prioritise good quality deep sleep.)

Controlled, consistent and progressive weight training is the key to healthy longevity.

What you choose today, decides your future [weak & fragile or strong & capable] - If you are not actively building muscle, then you are losing it.

Decades of being told our bodies need to look a certain way to be acceptable means we have learned to judge ourselves by appearance alone.

We internalise an outsiders perspective of our physical body. We treat ourselves as objects to be evaluated by others, strongly influenced by society, media, and social media we focus on our physical appearance above all else.

Women and girls, men and boys alike are all increasingly effected by external pressures to look a certain way; Thin, youthful, muscular or lean …

Even when we are doing something powerful - like deadlifting three quarters of our own body weight, we will see a photo of ourselves and think OMG just look at my double chin … Or we achieve a step up to a thigh high box and all we see a belly roll …

Stop there - A simple mindset shift could change everything - Try not judging what your body looks like, but appreciating what it can do.

These unedited, unfiltered images of real people show what a strong, capable, powerful body can do.

It might look like we’re just messing around in the woods, but these functional strength workouts really build resilient bodies. Functional Fitness for healthy longevity.

If you have ever apologised to a plant for hurting it, moved a tiny creature out of harms way, if you have ever quietly thanked a tree for it's shade, noticed the first blackberries, stopped to listen to the birds, if you still collect feathers or pine cones, if you are aware of how few elderberries there are this year …

and, if you want a strong, healthy, capable and robust body, then message now for details on how to join us.

“No Cop-outs here, just solutions”
- Miss Molly S

Well said!

🌳 🌲 💪 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️

A cop-out is a weak excuse, an evasion of responsibility, the backing out of a difficult commitment, an action of quitting, backing down or failing to face a challenge.

A solution is an action, a plan, or an idea that successfully resolves a problem.

Sore shoulder or elbow, poorly finger, aching knees, broken wrist, chasing rabbits - these are all cop-outs!

And there is always a solution;

A wall sit if you can’t squat. Body weight exercises, or a weighted vest if you can’t hold anything, seated exercises - alternatives, regressions and progressions at every class and session.

Focus on what you can do and get it done.

No Cop-outs!

A Chiropteran Safari:

The word Chiropteran is derived from the Latin word Chiroptera, coming from the ancient Greek words cheir (meaning "hand") and pteron (meaning "wing"). It literally translates to "hand-wing," which perfectly describes how a bat's wings are formed by a thin membrane stretched between their elongated fingers.

Bats have been on earth for more than 50 million years and there are now more than 1,500 different species.

The UK is home to 18 species - only two of these hang upside down, most roost in crevices, squeezing into tight dark spaces where they can rest, safe from predators.

The only mammals on earth capable of sustained, powered flight, they navigate and hunt for insects in the dark by emitting high-frequency sounds and listening to the echoes that bounce back.

After an amusing and information talk by Matthew Terry, from https://www.worcestershirebats.org.uk/ armed with Bat detection devices and night vision binoculars we set off an a dusk walk;

Our woods turned out to be a great location for seeing and hearing bats.

Matt was able to positively identify the Common Pipistrelle, the Soprano Pipistrelle, the Daubenton’s Bat and the Noctule.

There may have been Whiskered bats, Leisler’s bats, and Brandt’s bats, but Matt is unable to say for absolute certainty.

If you’d like more information on these and other bats, take a look at https://www.bats.org.uk/about-bats/what-are-bats/uk-bats

Thank you Mat @ https://echolocate.co.uk/ we all loved the experience.

Estimates indicate that nearly 50% of people will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime. With someone in the UK being diagnosed with cancer every 75 seconds.

Where about 5% to 10% of all cancers are hereditary, and some cancers occur due to chance or natural biological processes, the expert consensus is that around 38% of all cancer cases in the UK are preventable; smoking remains the primary cause, followed by excess weight and obesity. Small lifestyle changes like quitting smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, and staying active can make a massive difference.

Survival rates skyrocket with early diagnosis - so don’t miss your screenings: Routine NHS screenings for breast, bowel, and cervical cancers save thousands of lives annually.

Breast cancer survival rates have significantly improved, with over 76% of women surviving, and death rates from cervical cancer have fallen by 75% over the last 50 years, largely propelled by the HPV vaccination program

Groundbreaking medical trials and research investments are paving the way for targeted vaccines (such as LungVax and OvarianVax) designed to clear out cells before they ever become cancerous

While some early-stage cancers are already considered fully curable, advanced and aggressive cancers remain challenging. There will likely never be a single, universal cure because cancer is not one disease, but a collection of over 200 distinct conditions. Cancer isn't just a human disease either, all animals, including dinosaurs, can get cancer, clams and mussels can even catch contagious cancers from one another.
