Match Report: Devils vs Colton Comets
What a night it turned out to be!
The weather couldn’t have been better — warm, not too hot, and just right for a great evening of rounders.
Colton won the toss and chose to field first, putting us in to bat. Their defensive wall was tough to crack in the first innings, and we struggled to find momentum, scraping together 4½ rounders. A solid 2½ came from Brook and another strong performance from Laura brought us 1½ more.
In the second innings, the Devils came out strong. Our tight fielding and great teamwork between the triangle — bowler, backstop, and first base — kept Colton at bay for a while, forcing a few backward hits and holding off their scoring.
Unfortunately, the game was briefly halted due to an injury on the pitch. Huge credit to both teams and spectators for the fantastic show of sportsmanship — Colton’s player left the field to a well-deserved round of applause. 👏🏼👏🏼
We’re relieved to report there were no broken bones, but further checks are being done. We’re sending all our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Colton came back firing and clinched the win with some cracking hits, pushing our fielders deep and keeping the pressure on until the end.
Shout outs go to Brook, Laura and Emma for scoring 3 1/2 rounders each last night. 👏🏼 👏🏼 💪 💪
Despite the loss, it was a brilliant night filled with great sportsmanship, plenty of banter, and strong team spirit.
Now we look ahead to our final match — away to Birkenshaw on 27th August. Let’s finish the season strong! 💪
