DRIFFIELD WINTER DARTS LEAGUE 🎯

AGM UPDATE – 2026/27 SEASON

A big thank you to everyone who attended tonight’s AGM and to all the teams for their continued support of the Driffield Winter Darts League.👏

Apologies regarding the C League Team packs, they will be completed and handed into Spread Eagle within the next week to be collected by the team captains. Due to a few issues discussed tonight there will be a few typo's on the fixture lists but please ignore them, they will be rectified in due course🍻

It was great to have everyone together ahead of the new season, and following tonight’s discussions and votes, the following changes and arrangements have been agreed:

🎯 Bennett Cup – All knockout rounds will now be played over the best of 5 legs.
🏆 Finals Night – All competition finals will be played on Finals Night, with the exception of the Old Folks Cup 4’s, Andy Bull Mixed Pairs and Charity Cup Doubles Board, which will have their finals played on the Monday before Finals Night.
🔞 Cup Competitions – All cup competitions will be for participants aged 18 and over.
🕖 Finals Night Start Time – We are looking at an earlier 7:00pm start (TBC) to allow plenty of time for all the finals to be played. Date is TBC as Friday 14th May 2027‼️

Jennings Shield
Under 30’s
Over 60’s
Banks Cup 3’s
A League Men’s Pairs
B & C League Men’s Pairs
Thompson Cup
John Smiths Cup

🎟️ Finals Night Raffle – A raffle will take place during Finals Night. We ask that each team provides a raffle prize, with all proceeds going towards supporting the Driffield Junior Darts League.

We would once again like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended tonight, contributed to the discussions and had their say on the future of the league.

The league simply wouldn't continue without the support of the players, captains, pubs and everyone who gives their time to help, and it is greatly appreciated.

We’re looking forward to another enjoyable and competitive season of darts across Driffield and the surrounding area.

Just a quick reminder, Driffield Winter Darts League AGM & Registration night is tomorrow. 7pm @ Spread Eagle‼️

So far only 3 proposals sent in to be voted on. If anyone has any suggestions then please do get in touch.

Proposal 1🎯
• All rounds in the Bennett Cup will be best of 5 legs instead of best of 3 legs.

Proposal 2🎯
• Under 30's & Over 60's cup final to be played on finals night.

Proposal 3🎯
• Cup games to be hosted by venues that allow players under the age of 18 in them so they dont have to leave by a certain time.

Good Evening,

Tonight there has been an important meeting regarding the future of the Driffield Winter Darts League. Im pleased to say a committee has been formed‼️

The new Driffield Winter Darts League Committee consists of;
Simon Clark
James Dean
Emily Dean
Josh Hopper

There were a few issues discussed tonight, these are as follows;

Issue 1
☆ The Winter Darts League AGM & registration night is Monday 7th September. 1 representative from each team is required to attend to vote on rule changes/introductions. Also to hand in their entry fee and pick up their darts fixture pack for the upcoming season. Time TBC‼️

Issue 2
☆ Unconfirmed start date is either Monday the 19th or Monday the 26th October. This will be confirmed in due course‼️

Issue 3
☆ It is with great sadness I report that Spread Eagle C will not be able to raise a team this upcoming season. Therefore Masonic Hall E have been given promotion into the B League from the C League. This was decided by the league committee‼️

Issue 4
☆ If anybody has any issues or would like to make a comment on anything from now on then please contact one of the committee members‼️

Breaking News‼️

All original places in this upcoming winter darts league are filled👏 With a new addition in Royal Oak, this is the final call for any new teams wanting to enter the league this year‼️

Good Evening Darters,

Just a quick update on a few things...

Firstly, we are still awaiting confirmation for Winter League entries from Mariners Arms A, Trout Inn A & Trout Inn B. Please could these be confirmed asap or if not please let me know so we can try fill the spots.🏆

Secondly, im pleased to announce Royal Oak have entered a team into this coming Winter League so it will be great to see them back and be in the venue again🎯

Anybody looking for any players ive had a message asking if any teams need help... get in touch for more info please.

Provisional start date = Monday 5th October‼️

To say people want an AGM, 8 votes out of the whole of the followers and darters in this league is a pretty poor turn out. If this AGM goes ahead, each team captain is required to attend to discuss the rules and ideas for the upcoming season. A date is TBC‼️

Important Update‼️

Regarding the last post on this page it seems there has been a lot of discussion regarding youth participation in cup games and the possibility of local pubs missing out on cup games.

As league secretary, my aim is to find a solution that is fair to all teams, players and local pubs while also encouraging youth participation.

One possible solution would be that any team wishing to field an under-18 player in a cup competition declares that player to the League Secretary before the competition begins. Where a cup tie involves a registered under-18 player, the fixture could either be played at a suitable neutral venue or, where both teams and the venue agree, be played earlier if this satisfies the venue's licensing conditions.

I will also be contacting local venues to confirm their under-18 admission policy so that i have a clear understanding of which venues can accommodate youth players. This information will help ensure any decisions are made fairly and consistently.

The last thing I want is to disadvantage our local pubs or prevent young players from getting involved in our sport. My aim is simply to find a solution that works for everyone.

I'd really appreciate constructive feedback from team captains and players before any decision is made.
