Both teams put on a fantastic display in an Under 9’s match that truly could have gone either way from start to finish. The game was played at a high tempo, with both sides showing great determination, teamwork, and effort throughout.

There were some brilliant attacking runs from both teams, with players driving forward confidently and creating plenty of chances. Every time one side looked dangerous, the opposition responded with strong tackles and excellent defensive work to keep the score close.

The defending from both teams was outstanding, with players putting their bodies on the line, tracking back well, and making some crucial last-ditch clearances. The goalkeepers also deserve huge credit, pulling off a number of amazing saves that kept their teams in the game and drew applause from everyone watching.

It was a match full of energy, commitment, and sportsmanship, and both teams should be proud of their performances. In the end, it was one of those games where either side could have come away as winners, but the real highlight was the quality and effort shown by every player on the pitch.

**Parents’ Player – Oscar**
Oscar played some amazing balls out from the back and defended brilliantly throughout the match. Whenever he was called upon to make a run, he was there. He left all his energy out on the pitch and never stopped working from the first whistle to the last.

**Manager’s Player – Coby**
Coby put in an amazing defensive performance, stopping some dangerous runs and working hard from the first whistle to the final whistle. He was always in the right place at the right time and showed great determination and awareness throughout the game.

⚽ MATCH REPORT ⚽

A brilliant performance from the lads today against Dearne & District FC in a very competitive game played at a high intensity throughout.

Dearne & District started the stronger side and put us under pressure early on, keeping our defence and goalkeeper busy during the opening quarter. Despite creating a few chances ourselves, we couldn’t quite take them, and the opposition eventually opened the scoring with a well-worked goal. The response from the team was excellent though, with Carter finding the equaliser after a great strike to bring us level.

The second quarter saw us grow into the game and begin to control more possession. Our attackers made some excellent runs forward and looked dangerous on several occasions, but a strong defensive display from Dearne & District, along with a few efforts going just wide, meant the scores stayed level.

The game continued to be closely contested in the third quarter, with both teams creating opportunities. The decisive moment came from a superb counter-attack started by Monroe, who won the ball back and played it forward quickly. Oscar showed great determination to chase it down before calmly winning the one-on-one against the goalkeeper to put Dunscroft ahead.

The final quarter was another entertaining battle with both teams continuing to play good football and attack with intent. We created further counter-attacking opportunities but were unable to add to the scoreline.

A fantastic performance down the right-hand side, making strong runs forward, delivering quality crosses, and putting in some important tackles defensively.

🏆 Player of the Match: Kyran 🏅
Outstanding throughout, especially in the second quarter where his driving runs through the defence caused constant problems. His passing, movement, and first touch were excellent and helped the team play forward with confidence.

A great team performance from everyone involved today — plenty of effort, determination, and quality on show. Well done, lads!

Start of the Summer League – no rest for the wicked! ☀️⚽
A great game tonight from the boys — every one of you played your part and put in a strong performance. We took the lead in the first quarter and sealed the win in the second with two brilliant goals.
There was some great attacking football on display, solid defending, and some outstanding saves from both goalkeepers in the third quarter, with both teams battling hard.
By the final quarter, you could see the long day starting to take its toll, but the boys kept pushing forward, defended well, and showed great determination right until the final whistle.
Parents’ Man of the Match: Kyran 🏅
Kyran made some brilliant runs, showed great passing and movement, and worked tirelessly from start to finish.
Man of the Match: Lucas 🏅
Lucas pulled off some fantastic saves and really took control of his box. He organised his defenders well, communicated throughout, and showed real leadership at the back.
Well done, boys — a strong start to the Summer League! 💪⚽

Trainer of the week:-

Well done Oliver. He showed the right attitude from start to finish—focused, hardworking, and fully committed. He got stuck in defensively with some strong tackles and used the ball well when it mattered. ⚽🏆⚽️

Good session tonight, lads. There was a real intensity about the group—sharp movement, positive running, and some excellent quality in the final third. The through balls and link-up play were particularly pleasing to see.

What a game today—it truly could have gone either way. The effort, determination, and heart from the boys were outstanding. The pressure they put Monk Fryston under, especially in the first three quarters, was relentless, and their movement of the ball was brilliant to watch. You could see how much it meant to them—every single player gave everything and worked tirelessly for one another.

⭐A huge congratulations to Carter on Parents’ Man of the Match—your runs and footwork were exceptional today, and you really stood out.

⭐️Well done to Oscar on Man of the Match. From the first whistle to the last, your energy never dropped. Your work rate, vision, and quality on the ball were superb—those passes and your defending were top class.

⭐️And well done to Lucas on Opponents’ Man of the Match. Some incredible saves today, and you commanded your box with real confidence—an outstanding performance.

It was a thrilling contest from the first whistle, with both sides showing intent and attacking purpose early on. The opening quarter was end-to-end, as each team created chances and both goalkeepers were called into action, making some excellent saves to keep the scores level.

In the second quarter, the opposition began to settle into the game and looked the more dangerous side, pressing high and creating several strong opportunities. Credit to our defence, though, who remained composed and well-organised under sustained pressure.

The third quarter saw the game return to a more even balance, much like the first. Both teams continued to push forward in a fast-paced and competitive battle, but neither side could find the breakthrough.

The final quarter delivered real drama. As the game opened up, we capitalised with a moment of quality — Carter smashing home a stunning volley from a perfectly delivered corner by Monroe. A goal worthy of winning any match. The opposition responded immediately, applying relentless pressure, but our back line stood firm and refused to break.

In the closing moments, we struck again on the counterattack, with Oscar finishing clinically to seal the victory and cap off an intense, hard-fought performance.

⭐️ Parents’ Player – Kyran 🏅
A first appearance in goal for the team, and he stepped up brilliantly. Made several important saves and commanded his area with confidence — couldn’t have asked for more.

⭐️ Man of the Match – Monroe 🏅
An outstanding performance from start to finish. His work rate never dropped, contributing with crucial tackles, intelligent movement, and playing a key role in both goals.
