The coaching team were really proud of every single one of them tonight. When we lose like that, it doesn’t hurt quite as much.

Tonight was always going to be tough. We were away to a team in the District Cup Final, with a threadbare squad, key players missing, two players who didn’t know anyone, and an outfield player going in goal while injured.

30 seconds in, we were already 1–0 down and I feared the worst… but we grew into the game and became the better team. Typical Doncaster fashion though—being the better team doesn’t always work for us—and we found ourselves 2–0 down 🤦🏻‍♂️

Then Amber played a great ball over the top, Sophie flicked it on, and Rose ran through to score, taking us into halftime at 2–1.

Rose was set to go in goal for the second half, but after Ava’s performance in the first—turning into a young Fran Lyons—we felt if she stayed in, we could really get something from the game…

30 seconds into the second half though… 3–1 😂

Leeds were the better side in the second half and added a fourth before we had to call it 10 minutes early as the venue kicked us out 🤦🏻‍♂️

Final score:
Leeds 4 – 1 Donny

Player of the Match:

George’s – Amber
Had a really tough task against a winger who could be one of the best I’ve seen, but handled her brilliantly.

Will’s – Ava
Took one for the team tonight—playing out of position, injured, and still putting in a top performance. Captain for the night and led exactly how a captain should.

Luke’s – Raz
An unknown to me before tonight but an absolute little terrier. Nothing flashy, just pure aggression and looked very comfortable straight away.

Mine – Sophie
A player I’ve seen before and rated highly. I’ve wanted to watch her more this season and tonight proved why. We’ve lacked shots as a team, and she can really strike the ball—strong, controlled, and a great addition to this growing squad.

A great experience today for the U14 girls who played a round robin tournament against Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Hull and Leeds. All under the watchful eyes of England Talent scouts.

All of the girls gave a great account of them selves and who knows we may have the next Generation of lionesses amongst them.

Well done Girls

Doncaster U11 v Leeds U11

A huge well done to our Doncaster Schoolgirls U11s on a superb 6-2 win away at Leeds tonight in tough, wet conditions. The girls started fast, played some brilliant one-touch football and looked a real threat going forward all game. Defensively we were solid and showed great teamwork against a talented Leeds side.

Special mention to Priya in goal for an outstanding display, and massive congratulations to Sienna, our Player of the Match, who scored an incredible five goals and worked tirelessly for the team.

Most importantly, the girls played with confidence, togetherness and smiles on their faces – exactly what we want to see.

Big thank you to our hosts Leeds for the warm welcome and a great game.

Proud coaches tonight – well done girls.

⚫️🟠 U14s Match Report 🟠⚫️

Doncaster 0 – 1 Leeds

After a tough couple of months facing the top teams in the district, the U14s welcomed Leeds — a side with similar recent results — with the management team hoping to finish the year by picking up three points.

With several players unavailable and further late drop-outs through illness, Doncaster went into the game with just 12 players, meaning some were asked to play in unfamiliar positions.

Despite this, Doncaster started brightly, playing some good football but struggling to find that killer pass in the final third. The final ball just wasn’t quite right, either missing its target or being overhit and running through to the Leeds keeper.

The only goal of the game came for Leeds following a long-range shot that Madi initially parried before it was tapped in by the striker. It appeared Madi had gathered the ball at the second attempt, and with players looking for a free kick, the referee allowed the goal to stand, leaving Doncaster 1–0 down.

The second half saw both teams largely cancel each other out, with very few clear chances created. While Doncaster will feel they did enough to earn at least a draw, and the effort and individual performances were faultless, as a team it just didn’t quite click. One of those games where we could still be playing now and probably wouldn’t have scored.

🏆 Player of the Match
This week’s award goes to our captain Rebecca. She worked tirelessly throughout, winning tackles, getting on the ball, and constantly looking to create that yard of space to play forward.
Well done, Rebecca 👏

🟠⚫️ U12 Match Report 🟠⚫️

Doncaster 2 – 5 Wakefield

Despite the final scoreline this didn’t feel like a 5–2 game at all. A few early errors put Doncaster on the back foot, but that’s football.

When the girls lost other week the management team were frustrated feeling the girls didn’t work hard enough. This group is different. These girls don’t give up.

After some half-time instruction about being harder and a bit nastier, Doncaster got a real foothold in the game and looked much better. The girls ran themselves into the ground. John, Luke and Will couldn’t ask for any more.

Brilliant to see Sophia get her first goal for the club 👏

A personal highlight for John was Amber’s second-half performance. Off school ill all week, yet she looked an absolute beast and their winger couldn’t live with her.

Luke’s Player of the Match, Abbie, turned into the Hulk. It got to the point where opponents were backing out of challenges because they knew she wouldn’t.

Ella took Johns Player of the Match. looking the best I’ve seen her play in a schools shirt. She dealt superbly with a very tricky opponent.

Grace, Will’s Player of the Match, was strong going forward and always there defensively, linking up brilliantly with Amber.

Every single girl played well. Yes, we lost — but we lost well.

⚽ Goals: Ava, Sophia

🏆 Player of the Match:
• Will – Grace
• Luke – Abbie

🟠🌑 U13 Match Report: Doncaster vs Scunthorpe 🟠🌑

Built up as a big game, the fixture certainly didn’t disappoint. Both teams came into the match having played three games each and winning all three, setting up a top-of-the-table clash.

Unfortunately, an early injury meant Imogen had to come off, but Doncaster started brightly and took an early lead when Ellie slotted the ball home. Only a few minutes later, Laila doubled Doncaster’s advantage with a well-placed finish.

A good break from Scunthorpe then saw their skilful left-winger hit a cross/shot that flew into the top corner. Doncaster pushed on, and Sophie scored a wonderful goal after great work down the right-hand side from Sofia to make it 3–1.

Then Doncaster seemed to completely switch off, allowing Scunthorpe to score two more goals before the break! So at half-time the teams went in at 3–3.

Two more injuries in the first half, to Ellie and Nell, meant Doncaster had to start the second half with right-back Poppy up front. After 15 minutes, the role then changed to Olivia—one of the two goalkeepers! Both Doncaster and Scunthorpe pushed hard to find the next goal which, in such a tight game, always felt like it could be the winner. It was Scunthorpe who got it, making the score 3–4.

Doncaster then seemed to find the passion and energy they had been missing for parts of the game, stepping it up a level and creating several good chances without converting them. Then, in the final minute, Sofia broke away down the right-hand side, found herself one-on-one with the Scunthorpe keeper, and calmly slotted the ball home to make it 4–4.

On reflection, both teams would probably agree that a draw was a fair result. We would like to wish Scunthorpe the best for the rest of the season.

Final score
Scunthorpe 4-4 Doncaster

Player of the Match: Poppy — brilliant at right-back against a very tough, skilful left-winger, as well as contributing with her 15-minute cameo up front.
