Harworth Colliery FC are based just to the south of the Nottinghamshire/Yorkshire border in the village of Bircotes & Harworth. It was decided that we shorten our name from Harworth Colliery Institute in 2011, but it's not uncommon for the club to still get called that given as this was the clubs original name
The football club was formed

in 1931, playing initially in the local leagues. We then joined the Yorkshire League in the 1946/47 season, but stayed there for only four seasons, before moving to the Doncaster Senior League where we played for many years. We then joined the Sheffield County Senior League, and these were the most productive years in terms of trophies won. We became the first club to win both the Wharncliffe Charity Cup and County Senior League Championship in 1975/76, the clubs most successful side to date. In 1977, the Yorkshire League accepted the club back in to it's membership, before in the 80’s this merged with the Midlands League to become the NCEL. During the 1980's the Colliery played in the North Counties East League and again was a very successful period for the club before going into the Newly formed Central Midlands in 1986 where the club remained until 2018 when the 1st team won the Central Midlands North division and returned back to the NCEL after a 32 year absence only to last a single year as the club finished bottom when only requiring a point from the last two games that would have seen us survive. The promotion season and the Counties season was a turbulent time for the club with three different mangers in the space of 18 months which is very un-colliery like to say the least, we pride our self on building a solid foundation so wasn’t an easy time even though it was at that time our most successful period for decades. The club has seen general improvement in all areas over the past six to seven seasons with the ground seeing lots of changes, new 50 seater memorial Stand in honour of our greatest Servant Robert Needham, new Toms Tea Room within the ground and replacing the old winding gear rope for the new fencing so with the walls also being extended behind both goals the pitch is now fully enclosed, new Gents/Ladies/Disabled toilets also have been built in the ground and an old dilapidated area of the ground has now been transformed as the old tea hut is now the shaft side bar area where supporters can congregate over a drink and enjoy the game, as well as this we have been able to renovate the old Floodlights and replace them with LED’s that will last the test of time so a huge investment from all concerned, we are very proud of the improvement around the ground and it remains our main focus away from the teams to do so year in year out. Our Senior set up is made up of 1st team in the Central Midlands North Division, Reserves who compete in the Central Midlands Division one, U21’s who play midweek in the North Midlands Development league and our Ladies team who for the first time will play in the North east regional Womens league. Season 2021-2022 will go down as one to remember after having the previous two seasons affected with the pandemic, we bounced back with 3 of our senior teams winning their respective leagues with Reserves Ladies and the U21’s completing the treble with League Cup and Mini shield, a truly incredible achievement by all and we hope that all of our sides, coaches and players can use that as an inspiration for the forthcoming season and build on that success. The club is also very proud of our Ever-increasing Junior set up which now boasts age groups from U7’s through to Under 18’s including two girl teams, we have struggled as a club to get good young local players involved at a senior level due to a shortage of junior sides but that has now been addressed and we look forward to getting those lads and lasses progressing through
