SUCH TRAINING IS HERE

"At Man City you can't have an off day. If you have an off day you get found out. If you get found out in training you don't play the game.” – Kyle Walker

Kyle Walker's quote is a testament to the high standards and competitive culture that has been created at the club. Pep Guardiola's approach at Manchester City serves as an example of how a culture of high standards and good habits can foster a high-performing team that consistently produces top-level results. Culture breeds habits and qualities like ability to focus, intensity of effort, speed of ex*****on, consistency in quality of performance are all but habits, which must be instilled in every training session.
There are several reasons why this culture of good habits is crucial for consistent results on the pitch:

1. EVERYDAY EXCELLENCE: By requiring high performance in every training session, players get into the habit of always playing at their best. This daily repetition of good habits and high standards can then transfer to match situations, creating a consistent level of excellence.

2. COMPETETIVE ENVIRONMENT: A culture where players know they must perform at their best in training to earn a spot in the matchday squad fosters a highly competitive environment. This intra-squad competition can drive players to improve, pushing each other to perform at higher levels.

3. ACCOUNTABILITY: By holding players accountable for their performance in training, it instils a sense of responsibility and professionalism. This accountability can create an environment where players are motivated to avoid mistakes, work hard, and constantly strive to improve.

4. CULTURE OF IMPROVEMENT: A culture of high standards and good habits promotes a growth mindset where players are continually striving to improve their skills, tactical understanding, and physical conditioning. This constant growth can lead to more consistent and improved performance over time.

5. COHESION AND UNDERSTANDING: By maintaining high standards in training, the team can better develop its tactical cohesion and understanding. This is crucial for executing complex game plans and strategies effectively during matches.

6. PLAYER DEVELOPMENT: High standards in training can facilitate player development. By constantly challenging players to perform at their best, they are provided with opportunities to learn, grow, and refine their skills, which can contribute to their long-term development and career progression.

7. RESILIENCE: Finally, this culture can also foster resilience. Players who are used to constantly performing at a high level, even when they're not at their best, can often find ways to contribute positively on the pitch even on off days.

"PRINCIPLES OF THE POSITIONAL PLAY" - Complete guide to understanding and coaching positional play. Tactical theory covers 10 principles used by masters of the positional play like Johan Cruyff and Pep Guardiola: playing out from the back, control of possession, positioning, movement, compactness, exploiting half-spaces, combination play, counter-pressing, vertical play and overload to isolate. With 40 tactical practices included (4 practices to coach each of the 10 principles). www.phaseofplay.com/shop
