Match Report:
What a fantastic day at cricket again for our both teams, two wins in a day with class performance from both teams.
Starting with the batting Sach and Daniel doing their thing as usual making it look very easy creating this sensation in the team where everyone wanted to go and smash. Dismantling the bowling attack, Sach’s innings of 79(64) came to an end with a unfortunate umpiring decision where he was looking very comfortable to get past his 100, marking an end of a monumental 124 run first wicket partnership. Avtar started his season in style and joined Daniel and continued the onslaught which ended with his unfortunate runout, ending another good partnership of 66. Bikramjit aka Goldy wasn’t lucky this time and departed shortly for a duck. Replaced by Kieran who joined his brother but the curse refusing to go resulting in the ending of such a marvellous innings of Daniel at 80(84). Tony Singh joined Kieran in the death overs to boost the team total and decided to take the aerial route and chose to go against the wind and got caught at long-on boundary. Ajay was given out LBW in a very controversial decision by his own teammate, gosh that hurts bad 😄. Mrin was looking very good but got run out when he collided with Kieran while running. Githin arrived and contributed his final bits when we ran out of overs and Parklands finished their innings at 247/7 which is the highest in years.
Parklands started the bowling with Jamie and Mrin and getting early breakthrough in the third over and another one in the eighth over by Mrin and Jamie respectively. Ajay and Githin took over the bowling after the 12th over and guests wanted to dominate them but Githin eventually ended up having the upper hand by getting Ben Whitehouse out with Kirean Morton taking a fabulous catch at midwicket. Ajay took one with the help of Tony Singh taking an easy catch at mid-off. Githin from the other end took another 3 wickets out of which one was caught behind nicely by Daniel, making sure that the guests were totally out of the game. Kieran Meehan was introduced from the Pond End while Githin was kept on from the Pavilion End to make sure of his Fifer which he did achieve in his 8th over. Meehan was very consistent and got one out with a good catch from Sach at midwicket. Goldy replaced Githin at the Pavilion End and bowled impressively with line and length but didn’t get a wicket since the last wicket fell as a run out.
Fielding from Parklands was very impressive overall proven by some fantastic catches, saved boundaries and a runout. Few names I would like to mention for excellent fielding are obviously Avtar, K Meehan, K Morton and Sach.
Team is looking very positive towards the next game at Monk Bretton and looking forward to crush the hosts at their home ground. Future looks good 😊.
