Not quite the start to 2026 I imagined…

5 days ago i had an accident that resulted in a grade 3 AC. Separation. Not looking like I’m going to need surgery as of yet. Only time will tell. But expected to make a full recovery regardless. Just going to be a long road back to doing what I love. But I WILL get back, better than ever before.
A silly mistake, freak accident, only takes a second and alot can be taken from you!

My Top 5 upper body exercises to gain and maintain lean muscle mass and strength.

1- Standing barbell shoulder press.
Hits the shoulders/ triceps / traps.

2- Bench press.
Chest/ triceps

3- Deadlift
Back/Traps

4- Pushups
Triceps/ chest/ shoulders

5- Pull ups
Back/ Biceps.

Hit these exercises 1 to 2 times per week and you’re guaranteed to see results.

Consistency….
Everyday try to be better , no matter how little.
Do the work nobody wants to do. When nobody is watching, discipline and consistency.

My Race season is approaching. Attacking my weaknesses, I’m bringing a whole different package this time around.

WALL BALL EMOM.

4x6 minute rounds for 24 minutes

Minute 1-2. Ski 500m ( choose a distance you can hit inside 2 minutes. )

Minute 3-4. RUN. As soon as minute 3 hits you will run for the whole next 2 minutes. Hit this run hard, get the heart rate up high.

Minute 5. Wall ball. As many reps as possible in minute. Try to go unbroken!

Minute 6. REST! Then repeat 3 more rounds.

Record your total reps of wall balls over 4 rounds. And next time try to beat it!

How to get in your best shape this summer.

1. Focus on performance goals , rather than just going in and burning calories. Chase PB’s, meters, seconds… you will be more motivated to give more effort which in turn, creates more energy expenditure.

2. DIET. Don’t get caught up in other peoples numbers. Every single body is different. Workout your own personal calorie deficit and stick too it. Keep your higher carb meals around your workouts for energy. keep track of progress weekly and adjust calories to carry you towards your goals. trial and error is key.

3. CONSISTENCY.
This is number 1, I see so many people trying in giving up because they don’t see dramatic results immediately. So they go try another silly method. Or they stay fairly decent with diet on the week and just go crazy at the weekend, destroy the whole week progress and just because a vicious circle.

Keep it simple! Work hard and Stay patient.

Hyrox Cardiff solo pro 1:08.

Amazing to be back racing again! Managed to get hold of a ticket for Hyrox Cardiff , was well enough prepared But the body let me down on this one.
Crossing the finish line with frustration rather than fatigue…… Half way through the race I started cramping very badly in my hamstrings and calves, causing me to have to slow down dramatically the second half of the race. After the burpees my calves were cramping every time I tried to push off my feet on the runs I had to try run flat footed, the first half of the lunges were almost not doable, every step my hamstrings and calves were locking up. Slowed me down big time!
I never ever suffer with cramps, not in training not in previous races , never in long runs or cycling. This race it hit me very badly , weather it was the nerves that got too me or maybe I came into the race a few kgs too light. Definitely some mental block that I need to work on! The nerves and the 1 year off of no racing definitely did not help.
Extremely frustrating! when you’ve trained super hard, know that you’re capable of so much more but the body shuts off. Feeling that you can easily pass by people on stations and runs but not able just so you can stop yourself cramping.
My lungs were fine my heart rate was averaged at 159bpm. The fitness was amazing , the muscles were not.

The positives!
My running was better! Which I worked hard on even though I couldn’t let the power go later in the race.
I know I can easily go sub 70 minutes in pro solo even when I’m not 100%
Was amazing to be back on the course after a year! I learnt a lot in this race!

This is the first race for me of this season. My goal is to race as much as possible this season coming. No more big breaks.
And weather it’s my nerves/mind messing up my body or weather it’s dropping too much weight coming into a race, I will figure it out and fix it! I’m still new to this game , only my second race so need to be patient. I’m More excited and motivated than ever and will come back so much stronger.
Can’t wait for the next!
