🥇 Golden news...

I'm delighted to share that both Branton St Wilfrid's CE Primary School and Friends of Hatchell Wood School have been awarded the GOLD School Games Mark! 🎉🏆

This award recognises everything sports related from PE and competitions to events, opportunities and the amazing experiences our pupils enjoy throughout the year.

A huge thank you to all our staff and parents—your support makes achievements like this possible.

And finally, the biggest congratulations go to our fantastic pupils. You're the reason we do it all, and you continue to make us proud every single day.

🏅 What an incredible Sports Week at Hatchell Wood! 🌟

The sunshine certainly turned up, but that didn't stop us from having an amazing week filled with fun, teamwork and lots of exciting new sporting experiences! ☀️💪

A huge thank you to all of our fantastic coaches and staff who made the week so memorable – we couldn't have done it without you! 👏

Now it's time for the excitement to continue... Sports Day is next week! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

🌳 Gazebos will be up for shade.
🥤 Refreshments will be available from the Hatchell Wood PTA.
👟 And parents... don't forget your trainers – it's almost time for the parents' race! Who's ready? 😄

Another busy day for our Year 5 and Year 6 football teams as they took part in the Summer Football Tournament! It was fantastic to see more than 30 pupils proudly representing Hatchell Wood.

The group stages were highly competitive, with only the top two teams in each group progressing to the knockout rounds. After a series of closely fought matches, qualification was decided by goal difference.

Our Year 6 team were the only Hatchell Wood side to reach the knockout stages, where they faced Edenthorpe Hall in the semi-finals. A fantastic 2–0 victory secured their place in the final against Atlas Academy—a repeat of last year's final.

Unlike last year, the final finished goalless, meaning the tournament was decided by a penalty shootout. Two confidently taken penalties, combined with some outstanding saves, saw our Year 6 team crowned champions! 🏆

Congratulations to everyone involved, and especially to our Year 6 team. What a brilliant way to end your final football competition representing Hatchell Wood!

Another busy day for our Year 3 and Year 4 football teams as they took part in the Summer Football Tournament! It was fantastic to see more than 40 pupils proudly representing Hatchell Wood.

The group stages were closely contested, with only the top two teams progressing to the knockout rounds. With so many tight matches, qualification came down to goal difference!

Our Year 3 Green team and Year 4 Yellow team both progressed and faced each other in the semi-finals. In a closely fought game, the Year 4 Yellows edged a 1–0 victory to book their place in the final.

The Year 3 Greens then competed in the third-place play-off but were narrowly beaten by a strong Sunnyfields Primary School Doncaster side.

The final was an end-to-end contest, packed with great saves, shots against the woodwork, and last-ditch blocks. Despite a fantastic performance, Hatchell Wood were narrowly defeated 2–1 by Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Primary, Doncaster 🏆.

Congratulations to everyone involved on another brilliant afternoon of football.
