Hello again, it has taken me a while, but here is some footage of the match between Bullcroft and Batley from their match on the 23rd May at the Hirst Courtney cricket ground. I decided to split the match roughly between still photographs of Batley's innings and Video of Bullcroft's innings, so here is the link to Bullcroft's innings on YouTube. I hope you'll enjoy it. Photographs will follow in a separate message. All the best. Gerald

🏏 Match Report: Bullcroft Main CC vs. St Chad's Broomfield CC (2nd XI)
Pontefract & District Cricket League – Division 1
Date: 16 May 2026
Venue: Uncle Toms

📝 Match Overview
Bullcroft Main CC (1st XI) secured a dominant 6-wicket victory over St Chad's Broomfield CC (2nd XI) in a low-scoring encounter. After winning the toss and electing to field, Bullcroft's bowling attack tore through the St Chad's batting lineup, bowling them out for just 51 runs. Despite a few minor hiccups in their chase, Bullcroft comfortably reached their target of 53 runs in the 17th over to take home a valuable 16 points.

🏏 Innings Breakdown
First Innings: St Chad's Broomfield CC – 51 All Out (21.4 Overs)
It was a tough day at the crease for St Chad's Broomfield, as they struggled to build partnerships against a fierce bowling display.

The Top Order Collapse: Bullcroft's opening bowlers left St Chad's reeling early on, collapsing to a staggering 20/7.

The Lone Fightback: Zeeshan Asif provided the only major resistance for his team, coming in down the order to score a resilient 20 runs off 31 balls (including 3 boundaries), finishing the innings not out. Henry Hawkes was the only other batsman to approach double figures, contributing a gritty 8 runs.
Second Innings: Bullcroft Main CC – 53/4 (17 Overs)

Chasing a modest target of 52, Bullcroft Main looked to get the job done quickly but had to navigate some disciplined bowling from the St Chad's attack.
Steadying the Ship: Bullcroft found themselves at 28/4 after a double-strike from Zeeshan Mumtaz. However, Owen Collins played the anchor role perfectly, holding the innings together with a patient 11 off 48 balls*.

Finishing in Style: Scott Hibbett came to the crease with intent, smashing a quickfire 17 off just 13 balls* (Strike Rate: 130.77) to guide Bullcroft safely over the finish line without further loss.

🌟 Key Performers

Bullcroft Main CC
Darren Birkett (Bowler): The standout performer of the match. He ran through the top order, delivering a masterclass spell of 10 overs, 5 maidens, 4 wickets for just 15 runs (Economy: 1.50).
Matthew Williamson (Bowler): Complemented Birkett perfectly from the other end, picking up 4 wickets for 26 runs in his 10 overs.
Scott Hibbett & Owen Collins (Batsmen): Shared an unbeaten 5th-wicket partnership to successfully anchor and complete the run chase.

St Chad's Broomfield CC
Zeeshan Asif (All-Rounder): The clear MVP for St Chad's. He top-scored with 20* to save his side from an even lower total and also picked up 1 wicket for 17 runs in his 6 overs with the ball.
Zeeshan Mumtaz (Bowler): Gave his team a glimmer of hope during the defense by picking up 2 wickets for 10 runs in his 3-over spell.

🏏 What a Fantastic Start! All Stars & Dynamos Summer Kickoff! 🌟

Last Friday evening, our ground was absolutely buzzing as we welcomed our amazing young players for the very first All Stars and Dynamos sessions of the summer! The weather held out, the energy was through the roof, and the field was a sea of bright yellow shirts and big smiles. ☀️
Here is a quick look at what our future cricket stars got up to:

⭐ All Stars Cricket
Our youngest group dove straight into the fun! We focused on fundamental movement skills, getting everyone warmed up with agility drills, toe-touches, and beanbag games. It was all about building confidence, making new friends, and getting comfortable tracking and catching the ball. The teamwork on display was brilliant to see!

⚡ Dynamos Cricket
Over on the main pitch, our slightly older group stepped up to the crease. The focus was on sharpening those match skills! We saw some fantastic underarm bowling practice, sharp fielding, and excellent catching technique being demonstrated during our skill-building drills. They are already looking like a proper squad!

🫶 A Huge Thank You!
An opening session like this doesn't happen without a brilliant community behind it. A massive shoutout to:
Our Coaches & Volunteers: Thank you for your time, patience, and for keeping the energy high from start to finish.
The Parents & Families: Thank you for bringing the kids down, supporting from the boundaries, and creating such a welcoming, positive atmosphere.
We are so incredibly proud of how hard everyone worked and, most importantly, how much fun they had.

📸 Next Session: Same time, same place this coming Friday! Make sure those water bottles are packed and ready. See you on the field! 🏏💥
