This week at Barnby Dun Cricket Club we’d love to see players, families, friends and supporters down at Glasspark enjoying the atmosphere and backing the club. Whether you’re a lifelong cricket fan or just fancy an evening out with a drink in hand and good company, everyone is welcome.

Our club is built on community support, volunteers and people turning up week after week — and it genuinely means a lot.

If ever a team deserved more from a game based on grit, determination and attitude, it was Barnby Dun today.

Bowling first, the lads put in a superb shift to restrict the opposition to 117. Abdullah was outstanding in only his second appearance for the club, taking a brilliant 5 wicket haul and showing exactly why he’s already becoming a massive player for Barnby Dun. Marklew and White backed him up brilliantly in a real team bowling performance.

Chasing 118 was never going to be straightforward and despite the result not falling Barnby Dun’s way, every player battled right until the end. One of those games where the effort, attitude and commitment deserved far more than the final result gave us.

And great to see Zully and Felly back out on the pitch for Barnby Dun again. 🏏💚

🏏 Match Report – Barnby Dun Women & Girls vs Bradfield Village Fellowship CC 🏏

Barnby Dun Women & Girls put in a spirited performance at home against a very strong Bradfield Village Fellowship side, eventually finishing on 229/6 in reply to Bradfield’s 264/5.

With seven of the Bradfield players regularly featuring in hardball Super 8’s cricket, Barnby Dun knew they were in for a serious challenge — and it certainly proved to be a proper test. No easy Sunday knockabout here.

Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from the game. The fielding effort was strong throughout, with great energy and commitment shown across the team, and there were some excellent wickets taken against an experienced batting line-up.

🔥 Bowling Highlights

• Sophie Hudson was on fire, claiming 2 wickets, both clean bowled.
• Rachel Bartle produced a brilliant all-round bowling display with a wicket caught and bowled, plus another bowled dismissal 💪
• Chris Buckley also chipped in with a wicket after a tidy spell.

Barnby Dun’s batting innings showed determination, but ultimately the chase just slipped away this time. There were useful contributions throughout the order, but Bradfield’s experience and consistency proved difficult to contain.

Plenty learned, plenty to build on, and lots of positives to take into the next fixture. Onwards and upwards for the girls 🏏💙
