Duke developed bloat on Sunday afternoon. Luckily, I recognized the symptoms and got him to an emergency appointment at the vets. They confirmed by x-ray that he had bloat and a twisted stomach, and had to operate asap. Thankfully, he came through the op, but was slow to recover. Today he was well enough to come home and is now off his face on pain killers. I can't thank Sophie at Milfeddygon Dolgellau Vets enough! (Bloat can develop with no particular cause, although can be attributed to a blockage or activity after eating. Large, deep chested dogs are more prone to it. Symptoms include lethargy, continuous retching and a bloated, hard belly)

Friday, February 13th. Much snow about! This is the halfway point on the Snowdon railway. There is also new snow on Cadair Idris as well as other local hills. Tomorrow is looking like a nice day, but more snow on the tops is forecast for Sunday. I have micro-spikes in stock if needed!

We will be closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Open on Saturday, 27th, 10am to 5pm, closed on Sunday 28th.

The shop was closed for the last couple of weeks so that I could take a break after the busy summer holidays. I wouldn't normally close in early September but I had a unique opportunity to join an archeological dig as a volunteer at Vindolanda, on Hadrian's Wall. It was also an opportunity to test some waterproof clothing, because as you'd expect, it rains in Northumberland! Anyway, it was a fantastic experience and I'm hoping to do it again sometime!

The shop will now be open on Sundays until the end of the school summer holidays (usually until the first week in September). Opening times ON SUNDAYS will be from 10am until 4pm, although I may close earlier depending on trade, so call 01341 422195 before you make the journey to Dolgellau to confirm that the shop is open.

Just a heads up that Sesiwn Fawr music festival is on in Dolgellau this weekend. The main square (Eldon Square) is closed to vehicle traffic for most of the afternoon. I will probably be closing the shop at about 2pm (or earlier) today (Saturday 19th July), so please call 01341 422195 before making the journey to visit. Sorry for any inconvenience!
