Dewsbury Road Runners We are Dewsbury Road Runners a friendly running club with 2 training nights a week at Dewsbury Moor Sports Club on Tuesday and Leggers Inn on Thursday.

We also organise 3 races per year including the fast and flat Dewsbury 10k

The Leeds Country Way Relay wasn’t the only event that our runners took part in this week. On Tuesday was the rearranged Yorkshire Vets race organised by Northowram Pumas Running Club a huge congratulations to Gerard and Treena who took the win in their age categories. On Sunday Hamzah went down to London to run the Big Half and ran a brilliant race and set a new PB in an amazing time of 1:14. Sunday also saw a couple of members run the Wetherby 10K with Wayne getting himself a shiny new PB

Today we had a good turnout for our monthly parkrun tourism (first Saturday of every month) at Temple Newsam thank you to all the volunteers it was a lovely morning out and Mikey toured even further afield travelling to Italy to do Mensola parkrun. Next month we are travelling to Barnsley so why not join us we can’t promise sunshine like today but we can promise a warm welcome

This last week has been slightly quiet on the racing front as everyone looks forward to the monthly parkrun tourism which this month is Temple Newsam and the Leeds Country Way relay this weekend but we had a couple of very good performances from our members. Cara ran the Liverpool to Leeds Canal race which is 130 miles she finished 5th overall and 2nd female which was a brilliant performance. Paul went on holiday over the pond and did some parkrun tourism whilst he was there running his first sub 20 parkrun with a time of 19:35 to finish 15th out of 310 participants he said it was a very welcoming and friendly event with a lot of other UK tourists there too. Well done to everyone who raced, ran and recced this week and I can’t wait to see everyone’s photos from the Leeds Country Way relays and any other races this weekend

We have had a hot busy couple of weeks around sunny Dewsbury and beyond but it hasn’t stopped our members from doing incredible things.

From battling a heat wave to run laps around Temple Newsam where Jon clocked 50km, Mark nursed his injury to muster 20km and Trish completed 25km 👏🏼

Paul and Annette traveled east for some Parkrun tourism on The Cinder Track 👏🏼 whilst closer to home Dave ran the Valley Striders AC Meanwpod Valley Trail race 👏🏼

Sunday saw Pudsey Pacers RC play hosts for the latest round of the YVAA GP Series where we had Age Category prize winners with Ged taking 🥈 M50 and Amy 🥉 F35 👏🏼

Slightly further afield we had 3 of our members ‘on loan’ as they supported a friend from local fell running club CalderValleyFellRunners on his Bob Graham round attempt.

Well done to all our members who were out on the road, trails or fells this summer enduring the heat

It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 weeks since our annual Flat Cap 5 race where we all baked in the heat whilst filling our bellies with Pie & Peas.

The race wouldn’t be what it is without the support of our fantastic club members giving up their evening to come out and marshal. This post is one of massive appreciation to each and every one of them.

There’ll be more of the same next year but we’re not ready for this summer to be over just yet 😃
