We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who played a part in making this year’s tournament such a success.

A massive thank you to the two teams who put on a fantastic show last night in the Daisyfield. A game that will never be matched – it had it all: goals, red cards, a penalty save, extra time, and a last-minute winner snatched. The underdogs George’s Bar nearly pulled off the unthinkable, but Foyle Harps showed their class once again and the reason why they are proven winners.

A huge thank you to Ballymoor FC for hosting us at the Daisyfield – your hospitality and facilities were greatly appreciated.

Thank you to all the teams, coaches and players who took part in the tournament. Your effort, sportsmanship and enthusiasm made the event what it was.

To all the referees, we are incredibly grateful for your commitment and professionalism throughout the tournament. It’s a tough job, and without your dedication, events like this simply wouldn’t be possible.

A special word of appreciation to our hardworking committee, whose efforts behind the scenes – from organising to coordinating – keep everything running smoothly year after year.

A game of football that you’ll never see again. What a show put on for junior football

Congratulations to Foyle Harps on winning The Pat Harkin Cup 2026.

The scoreline flatters how the game actually went.

Foyle Harps take the lead in the first half with a goal from Paddy Hargan to make it 1-0 to Foyle Harps going into halftime.

HT: 0-1

The second half was a tight-knit game. Both teams battled hard throughout the game. George’s Bar then scored a goal through Ryan McCreadie with 20 minutes remaining.

The game remained 1-1 until the 87th minute when George's Bar scored a goal through Kyle Nixon, a wonder strike from 25 yards out into the top corner.

George's Bar battled well to hold on to the result until a clumsy free kick was given away outside the box with 30 seconds remaining in the game. Foyle Harps take the free kick and they score through a goal by Mikhail Kennedy at the back post.

FT: 2-2

The game then goes to extra time.

At the beginning of extra time, Foyle Harps score a goal by a header through Gareth McFadden making it 3-2. George's Bar then lose a man, Shea Fraser, to a red card.

George's Bar have the chance to equalise through a penalty awarded after Connor Brown was dismissed conceding a penalty.

George's Bar miss the chance to equalise through the penalty with the step in Foyle Harps keeper, Gareth McFadden, pulling of a fantastic save. He then plays the ball up to their striker who goes on to finish the game off to win 4-2.

FT: 2-4

Brilliant game of football at the Daisyfield this evening, which will be hard to match anywhere else in the city and throughout the rest of the summer cups.

George’s Bar FC
Coming into this tournament as a last-minute entry after another team pulled out, this group was thrown together the night before. No training, nothing built — just a young squad with a few experienced heads and not much expected of them.

But they’ve turned heads ever since.

After going 2-0 down to one of the favourites, Carrowreagh, they pulled off an incredible comeback to win 3-2 with a last-minute goal in the quarter-finals. They followed that up in style, beating hosts Ballymoor 6-1 on their own pitch to book a place in their first-ever cup final.
