Hi All (please share far and wide), the club meet at Lonsdale pool in Mickleover, DE3 9DF (plenty of parking space behind the pool) on Mondays 6:45-7:45PM and Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm. Members pay £22/month if they swim once a week (flexible, Monday or Thursday), and £35 if they swim twice a week.
We are a small friendly club with about 18 members, about 50/50 men / women and a good spread of ages (from 30-odd to 70-odd). Our swimmers have a range of abilities but we do not offer any coaching and so you need to be able to lane swim at a basic level (e.g. completing 40 lengths in an hour). Typically each session we have 1 to 3 swimmers per lane (there are 5 lanes in the pool), and we match swimmers of similar speed together within the lanes. Usually we follow the same training drill as the others in our lane, which we choose at the beginning of the session (we have pre-printed cards), or we just make up our own drill. Swimming with others doing the same drill is great for motivation on those cold dark winter nights when nobody feels like going for a swim!
If you'd like to come for a couple of weeks to try it out (for free) before you join then that would be fine.
