A huge well done to Darwen Masters' swimmer Caroline who conquered Loch Ness!

Caroline completed the epic 23 mile swim in 15 hours and 3 minutes.

This is what Caroline has had to say about her swim 🏊‍♀️

I began my training convinced I didn’t want the extra pressure off raising money for charity.

However as you can I imagine I’m a big open water swimmer, and believe the water has a place for everyone. That being said some people, can get into difficulty.

For those people who struggle in the sea the RNLI are a blessing they didn’t know they needed. They are all VOLUNTEERS who risk their own lives to save those in difficulty. This should not go unnoticed. Any donation goes to maintain and supply their equipment and training.
They are phenomenal.

Caroline, one of our amazing swimmers is setting out to swim all 23 miles of Loch Ness this August to raise money for the RNLI

With the recent news of people getting into trouble in open water it only seemed right to Caroline to fundraise for VOLUNTEERS who risk their own life to save those in danger.

The RNLI relies on donations to fund the kit and training volunteers need to save lives at sea and return safely home.

Due to the very low expected numbers for Wednesday's training session (something to do with England being in the World Cup Semi Final ⚽️) the committee have decided to cancel the training session on Wednesday 15th July 🏊‍♀️

Training will resume as normal on Monday

Adam conquered all 5.25 miles of Coniston in his longest swim to date and in well under 3 hours! Well done Adam!!

A busy weekend for Darwen Masters!

Today saw the start to the Darwen Masters Summer School 🏊

The first of the four Darwen Masters Summer School coaching sessions took place at Darwen Leisure Centre, giving our swimmers as well as swimmers from the local community the opportunity to develop their technique, improve their skills and learn from some of the very best in the sport!

The session was run by a fantastic coaching team:

🏊‍♀️ Dave Evitts- Former British Olympic Support Coach

The free sessions have been made possible thanks to funding support from The Movement Fund and provide tailored coaching designed to help swimmers build confidence and take their swimming to the next level.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising and delivering the session, along with all those who attended. We're already looking forward to the next one!

Fantastic three days of swimming for the Darwen Masters at the British Masters Championships in Aberdeen.

A grand total of 8 national medals between the squad (6 x 🥈& 2 x 🥉), great swimming from the entire squad. Special mention to Lee for his impressive collection of PBs and his much deserved silver medal in the 200 Fly, and to Daniel, making his national masters debut and only missing being crowned British Champion by an agonising 0.16 seconds! Such a great swim nevertheless.

Great 3 days of swimming! Bring on the National Short Course Championships in October! 🏊‍♀️

Darwen Masters Summer School 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Would you like to improve your swimming technique, refine your strokes and develop your confidence in the pool?

We are offering FREE specialist Summer School sessions at Darwen Leisure Centre, giving swimmers the chance to receive tailored coaching from an experienced team of coaches.

Sessions will focus on:
💧 Stroke refinement
💧 Starts, turns and finishes
💧 Technique development
💧 Building confidence and skills in the water

📅 Session Dates:
Sunday 14 June | 9am to 11am
Wednesday 8 July | 8pm to 10pm
Sunday 27 September | 9am to 11am
Wednesday 30 September | 8pm to 10pm

To get the most from the sessions, swimmers should be able to swim 50 lengths continuously and be confident in front crawl plus at least one other stroke.
