10 Darwen Masters' swimmers competed and we had fabulous support from family, friends and coaches 🏊‍♀️

Well done to all of our swimmers who competed in individual and relay events

Calling all Darwen Masters Swimming Club supporters and fans 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Darwen Masters swimmers will be racing at Darwen Leisure Centre this Sunday and our swimmers would love to have your support 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️ It's not often that races are so local so it is the perfect opportunity to come and spectate!

We have plenty of swimmers in individual events and a team in the medley and freestyle relays

Races start at 10am 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Well done to Alison, Lee and Megan who competed at Carlisle Aquatics Masters meet on Sunday 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Congratulations to Alison who achieved a pb in the 100m breastroke and to Megan who achieved a pb in the 200m backstroke 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Bolton Metro Masters meet 2026

What a fantastic start to the year 🏊‍♀️

Darwen Masters entered the 200m mixed medley relay aswell as the 200m mixed freestyle relay with our teams coming home with gold in the 72+ year and 200+ years age categories for each relay! 🥇🥇🥇🥇

13 club records were broken!

Lee 100IM and 50m fly
Liz 100IM, 50 fly and 50m freestyle
Daniel 50m back, 50m fly, 50m freestyle and 50m breastroke
Chris 50m backstroke and 50m fly
Garry 50m backstroke
Megan 200m backstroke

We also had plenty of age category success!

Well done to our swimmers who competed in The Capernwray Open Water Championship last night 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Lee started the night off with a 500m event, placing 2nd overall in a time of 9:17. That wasn't enough swimming for our Lee who then swam in the 1500m race shortly after 🏊‍♀️

Megan, Lee and Adam competed in the 1500m event with Megan coming in with a time of 26:39, shortly followed by Lee in 27:10 and Adam in 29:22 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️

The club was well represented at the recent North West Masters Championships at Blackpool. All Darwen swimmers in attendance won medals with Lee, Helen, Liz and Garry all coming home as champions, whilst Alison and Chris both stepped onto the podium on multiple occasions.
Club records fell throughout the day, with the first coming at the very start of the programme thanks to Liz breaking the 55-59yrs 800m Freestyle record. Chris broke 3 records in the 50-54yrs category (100IM, 100br & 200br), whilst Lee impressed in the 200IM (40-44yrs). Helen broke the 100m Br 50-54yrs record. Many thanks to Pete, who came along to support the team (and promised to make his racing debut at the Etwall meet in November - go Pete!). Attention now turns to Llandudno for the Arfon event next month.

Well done to Darwen Masters' swimmer Caroline for completing Windermere End to End! 11 miles of swimming 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Caroline also got a new pb for this event, knocking 30 minutes off her previous time!
