Darwen Gala

Darwen Gala Darwen Gala is an annual community festival that takes place annually on the 3rd Saturday in August.

This year (2017) our 52nd festival will be held on Saturday 19th August. A road parade with floats and walking parties starts from the Anchor Football ground on Anchor Road at 12.30pm and proceeds along the A666 to the town centre. It then turns onto Borough Road and arrives at the Gala field site, adjacent to Bold Venture Park at 1.00pm. Following an opening ceremony by the mayor of Blackburn wit

h Darwen Council, the Gala’s entertainment programme commences at 1.30pm and continues through until 6.00pm that evening.
