🏆Dart Win the Winter Series 2026🏆

Huge congratulations to everyone who represented Dart Gig Club yesterday at the final of the South Devon Winter Series in Brixham

The club delivered an outstanding performance, with a flurry of 1st place wins on the day and several overall category titles across the series. Most importantly, Dart secured both the win on the day and the overall Winter Series League title.

After narrowly missing out on the league last year, this one feels particularly sweet. A fantastic result and a real credit to the commitment, training and teamwork that has gone into the winter campaign.

Well done to every rower, cox and supporter who played a part 👏.

Onwards and upwards now, as we turn our attention to the start of the spring–summer calendar, beginning with our very own event in early April 🚣‍♂️🏆.

*Final results*

🥇*Dart - 400*
🥈*Salcombe - 391*
🥉*Tiegn 271*

Our ladies Masters were treated to a show from a pod of dolphins this morning! Despite the cold, the dolphins were out playing around the gig and the oars! Dartmouth at its best! 🐬🌅🚣

The Dart Super Vets made their mark at this year’s Weymouth CPGA Mixed Championships, joining a huge field of 81 crews across the Open, Over 40s, Super Vets, and Masters categories.

With stunning weather and near-perfect water conditions, the scene was set for some incredible racing over a fast and tactical 1700m sprint kite course, all visible from Race HQ next to Nothe Fort.

Seeded into Group C for the opening round—apparently thanks to the inclusion of a championship rower—the Dart SVs took to the water in Sir Tristan, a gig built in 2001 and reportedly carrying 70kg of paint! Despite that, we got off to a flying start, stroked by Will M and Lucy A, and expertly coxed by Nadine. Racing against much younger open crews, we secured a strong 3rd place and advanced to Round 2, still in Group C.

The pressure stepped up in the second round as we lined up against Salcombe and Brixham SVs, both known for their strength. Now in Dager—a gig with more in common with our own Volante—we stormed the first buoy, dropping both rival crews. Two perfect turns by Anne-Marie kept us in the mix, and we crossed the line holding 3rd by three boat lengths. While rowing back for the changeover, someone in the boat announced we’d won Gold in the Super Vets category—a claim met with cautious optimism. As results came in, it was confirmed: Dart Gig Club SVs were Super Vets Champions!

That result bumped us into Group B for the final race of the day. Lining up with top Open crews, we were initially at the back of the pack, but Nadine's sharp coxing capitalised on a collision between the boats ahead. Dart surged forward in the final stretch, finishing 8th out of 10 in the heat—placing us 19th overall out of more than 80 crews.

A long, brilliant day of racing in Weymouth—hard-fought, well-earned, and thoroughly enjoyed by all. 🏆🚣‍♀️
