While the boss is away, Spraire come out to play!!
Darlington Spraire lads put Middleton Rangers to the sword with a dominant display.

Apologies as admin was unavailable today but the main points is 4-4-2 still works in the modern game, Jack Leach-Owen doesn't have to score to be a handful and Declan Stranks shows his prowess up top today!

This weekend sees Spraire return to South Park for their clash with Middleton Rangers. The Lads looking to pick themselves up after back to back defeats in cup and league and restore early season momentum.
With manager Jay Burgess unavailable this week step into the breach club legend Bill Cocker as he heads up a team with returning captain Mick Lavelle. Eden Pugh and Billy Hinchliff are both currently fighting to be available for Spraire.

Rivals Gain Ground as Gainford Goals ruin start to season

Gainford Cross Keys FC prove to be a bogey team for Spraire since Jay Burgess took over day to day.

4 Mins - Stronger than normal start for Spraire sees a ball over the top bounce over the defenders, Rossy charging through to shoot straight at the keeper and follow up with a weak header.

23 Mins - Defending a corner for Spraire sees Declan Stranks head the ball just wide of his own post. He's claimed no idea where it was intended to go.....
24 Mins - Just a mere minute later he's at the right end of the pitch heading a ball wide almost identically close to his defensive header previous.

HT 0-0

47 Mins - Just a couple minutes after saying we need to get the ball to feet during the team talk Kane Lyonette all 5 foot 2 of him jumps highest to head over the bar from a corner.

53 Mins - A quick throw in taken down the Gainford left catches poor Richard Railton out and as Jordan Kneeshaw comes across to challenge for the ball the shoulder barge attempt launches the Gainford forward off his feet. PENALTY!

54 Mins - GOAL Gainford hit the penalty the opposite direction to the diving Joe Wilson

59 Mins - PENALTY!! Rossy breaks the defensive line and crossing the ball across the 6 yard box hes wiped out from the onrushing goalkeeper. Charlie Graham steps up after scoring the previous week and the shot is saved from the Gainford goalkeeper.

77 Mins - Gainford's centre back takes the ball down and brings it forward, Spraire backing off and he nails a, and i quote "Vincent Kompany Style shot" which bends away from Joe Wilson's dive. A cracker.

FT 2-0

M.O.T.M & O.M.O.T.M- Kane Lyonette, plenty of graft and chances came from him being involved in build up. Good shift from the plucky youngling.

D.O.T.D - Charlie Graham graciously takes it for the missed penalty. Constantly having players in his ears shouting abuse throughout the game handled it well till then.

This week sees Spraire back in league action. Sunday will see us travel up the road to Gainford Cross Keys FC as we look to continue our positive start to the campaign.
Last season both meetings in the league resulted in score draws. We will be looking to correct that this time around.

M.O.T.M - Jay Burgess. Couple of notable saves on a hard day all round. Great penalty save for the 2nd one given. Not bad for 4th choice goalkeeper.

D.O.T.D - Andrew Cocker. Could have quite easily been Man of the Match today in his 45 Minutes but 2 penalties given up and a yellow card for his troubles hides his actual performance.
