π Matchday Report β PJDYFL Divisional Cup Plate Semi Final
β½ Dalry Thistle 6β1 Bridge of Weir
π Match Summary
We welcomed Bridge of Weir to the Putyan for our cup semi-final, and from the first whistle Dalry looked calm, composed, and full of confidence.
The referee set the tone early with a yellow card for Brax, meaning he had to be careful for the rest of the game. Bridge of Weir took the lead when a long searching ball found their forward, who coolly slotted past Louie despite the keeper being unlucky with the finish. Dalry players felt the goal should not have stood, but to their credit the boys quickly refocused.
The response was immediate. Liam found Aaryn W, who made no mistake to bring us level. That goal lifted the whole team, and just three minutes later Aaryn grabbed his second after a brilliant pass from Frazer D.
Dalry were now fully in control and pushing for more. Aaryn turned provider this time, setting up Liam, who threw himself through the air to head home and make it 3β1 before half-time.
The second half started the same way, with Dalry creating chance after chance while searching for the fourth goal. It finally arrived when Aaryn won the ball back and found Adam, who drilled a superb low strike from outside the box into the corner.
The fifth came from some excellent work down the wing by Jayden, whose dangerous cross caused panic in the Bridge of Weir defence and forced an own goal. Reilly and Nairn deserve huge credit for the pressure they applied.
The final goal of the game was another special moment as Jayden fired an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper, who barely saw it. Reilly, making his return from injury, provided the assist with some great work in the build-up.
