The UK is banning under-16s from social media. And while everyone's debating whether it's right or wrong, we've been thinking about something else entirely. 👇🏼
Sport has always been one of the most powerful tools we have for young people's mental health. Not because it's trendy to say so, but because we see it every single day. A child who was shy in September captaining their team by Christmas. A kid who struggled to make friends finding their people on a pitch.
When young people spend less time scrolling and more time moving, something shifts.
But here's what we don't want to get lost in this conversation - there are charities, coaches and organisations who use social media to reach children who really need support. The ones who might not have a trusted adult at home. The ones who need to see a coach, a mentor or a role model show up in their feed and remind them that someone's got them.
That's why the people around children; teachers, coaches, youth workers - matter more than ever right now.
We're proud to be that for over 16,800 children every week across the South East. And if you're a parent or young person reading this, we'd love to be part of your week too. 🏃⚽🤸
