What a night at our Annual Awards Evening at Pontnewydd Golf Club! 🏆🍻
A brilliant evening with plenty of laughs, great unity throughout the club, and definitely a few sore heads this morning! Massive thanks to everyone who came along — supporters, players and families — the turnout was fantastic and shows what this club is all about.
Big thank you to Jamie Howells for the brilliant DJ set all night, and to all of our sponsors for your continued support this season and for joining us on the evening. We appreciate every one of you.
Congratulations to our award winners:
🏆 Manager’s Player of the Year – Callum Gwillim
Signed in January and instantly lifted the squad with his quality, energy and attitude. Came into the side at a crucial stage of the season and played a massive part in helping drive us towards promotion with important goals, relentless work rate and real attacking quality. A player who gave everything every time he stepped onto the pitch and fully deserved this recognition.
🏆 Players’ Player of the Year – Lloyd Maggs
A player respected by everyone in the dressing room for the standards he sets week in, week out. Solid all season long, dependable in every game and the heartbeat of our midfield. Lloyd led by example, battled for every ball and was a huge part of everything good we did this season. A top player and a great servant to the club.
🏆 Clubman of the Year – Kev Beckett
There genuinely isn’t enough that can be said about Kev and everything he does for the club. From his role as treasurer to all the unseen jobs behind the scenes, he works tirelessly to keep things running smoothly and make sure the club continues moving forward. His commitment, time and effort never go unnoticed and this award could not have gone to a more deserving person. A massive part of this football club on and off the pitch.
🐴 Donkey of the Year – Lee Harris
Leading the line all season as our number 9 in a promotion-winning side and somehow not managing a single goal takes some doing! 😂 Despite the finishing boots clearly being left at home all year, Lee’s effort, commitment and ability to take the banter made him the perfect winner of this award. Fair play for taking it like a champ!
Thank you again to everyone involved this season — players, committee, volunteers, sponsors and supporters. What we’ve built this year has been special and the togetherness around the club has been unbelievable.
We’ll now enjoy a well-deserved rest over the summer and look forward to returning next season in a higher division with new challenges, new goals and plenty more memories to make together.
