U13 Girls v Abertillery

Having had a bit of an off day Sunday v Chepstow, we made the long midweek trip to another promoted side in Abertillery.

Both sides had lost their openers, so both sides were keen to get the win under their belt and kick-start the season.

Abertillery started stronger and had the better chances early on, however Llany grew into the game and we remained a threat on the break. A couple of half chances fell our way but a pretty even 1st half ended 0-0.

2nd half we were much more on the front foot and were more confident in our forward play. Ws had a few chances again, however this time they were the threat on the break.

Both sides had chances to win it at the end, however a defeat would have been devastating for either team and in the end a draw was probably a fair result.

Nice to keep a clean sheet after conceding 8 at the weekend.

No player of the Match as every single one of the 12 girls gave their all, with some putting in a marathon 70 minute shift. So all players get the medal tonight 🏅

Attention now turns to the cup and we are away on Sunday to Ponthir 👍🏻⚽️

Well done girls, our 1st hard earned point of the season 👍🏻⚽️👏

A great start to the season for our Under 9s. They all played incredibly well and picked back up from where they left off before the summer holidays, awesome passing and a fantastic team spirit shown all round, with some of our girls taking on the challenge of goal keeping for the first time. 💪

A shout out to Betsy, our new player, who played her first matches today and huge congratulations to Riley for her pace and sheer determination on the pitch today - Player of the Day well deserved. 👏

Llanyrafon 4 Chepstow Town AFC Girls 8

U13s in our season opener welcomed last seasons Division 2 Champions Chepstow.

This was never going to be an easy game against a well organised side, keen to impress at a higher level.

A back and forth start ended with Llany taking the lead courtesy of captain Fern on 9 mins. The lead didnt last long and Chepstow were back in it a minute later. We couldn't cope with the direct ball and Chepstow took advantage racing into a 4 goal lead. Llany did have the final say of an open 1st half, Pazza tapping in to make it 5-2 at halftime.

The 2nd half began much the same as the 1st, however Chepstow extended their lead to 7-2. Cue a mini comeback from Llany led with 2 goals in 6 minutes from Ffion S. This made it 7-4, however the visitors did add another to make it a final score of 8-4.

Good luck to Chepstow for the rest of the season 👍🏻

Not the start we wanted and plenty to work on, however there were positives.

Congratulations to Isla, Iris & Betsy all make their debuts.👏

Player of the Match was Iris. Chased everything, never gave up and was fully committed.🏅

We have a quick turnaround with a match versus another promoted side in Abertilley on Wednesday 👍🏻⚽️

⚽️🔴🔵 FULL TIME | GVD 0–2 LLANYRAFON BLUE U15 🔵🔴⚽️

A solid 2–0 win against GVD from Llanyrafon blue today, where the girls really stood up in terms of physicality.

The girls played some lovely football at times, also showing another side to our game , Some fabulous goalkeeping from the opposition team kept the scoreline to a minimum.
The girls dug deep, defended hard and battled for every ball when we needed to. 💪⚽️

A rock-solid performance at the back today. Marisa mopped up everything that came her way, consistently winning tackles, headers and second balls. Brilliant performance! 👏

Welcome back to the U8s football team as they begin a new season. It was a brilliant morning of football at a new venue! The team welcomed bigger goals and goalkeepers, and also teamed up with a new player! Welcome to the team, India.

A new year and a new way of playing, and the girls adapted brilliantly! 💙❤️ Both teams showed great effort, teamwork and some lovely passing, with plenty of chances and great performances in goal. The Blues worked hard to hold their new positions, with Natalina earning Lady of the Match for her enthusiasm and strong positioning. The Clarets dominated their first game and continued to show great team play throughout the morning, with Georgie earning POTD for her constant pressing and never giving up.

A brilliant effort from all the girls! ⚽️👏

A huge shout out to our Llanyrafon U7 girls who played in their first round robin tournament this morning!

The nerves quickly disappeared as the girls settled into their matches, scoring some fantastic goals & showcasing some brilliant defensive work!

The melon snack time was a welcome break as the girls recharged and got ready for their last match (Coach will remember to bring the snacks again next week girls! 🍉😂)

Well done girls! Onwards & upwards for next week! ⚽️🌟
