A frustrating day at Broadwood for the Colts with the visit of Riverside.

Traditionally, these have been intense affairs with tight score lines, and today was no different.

The Colts made an assertive start to the game and were camped in the opposition half for large spells, creating several chances. But a lack of composure and poor decision making meant that Riverside’s stand in goalkeeper had few meaningful saves to make. The Colts came closest through Ruby’s effort which struck the post.

As was often the case at the turn of the year, the Colts were made to pay for being profligate in the opposition box when we failed to clear a high ball and the resultant scramble saw Riveside take the lead.

The Colts did not let their heads go down and continued to dominate possession but were unable to find an equaliser before half time.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first, but the Colts eventually made the breakthrough with around ten minutes to go. Macy found Ava at the second attempt and her cool low finish drew the sides level. And that’s how the game ended.

We now turn our attention to our visit to Rossvale next week.

League Cup duties for Cumbernauld Colts 2013s Yellow at Broadwood this morning.

We welcomed Riverside 2012’s for what was a great and competitive game of football against an excellent and experienced side.

In a very even first half there was little between the teams. Mayas outstanding energy in the middle ensured Riverside were unable to get a foothold in the game and some outstanding link up play from Ava had the riverside defence facing their own goal regularly. On another day the Colts would have had 3 first half goals. But at the other end 2 goal line clearances from corners by Macy kept Riverside out.

Shortly before half time Riverside took the lead and the Colts went into half time 1 down.

The Colts continued to compete in the second half and forced 2 great saves from the goalkeeper before Riverside scored a second goal on the break.

Defeat ends our interests in the cup competitions for this year, but the Girls have no reason to be disappointed as, even in losing, today was our best performance of the season. The shape and organisation of the team was outstanding and the defence in particular were excellent; Keeva quietly does a great job in an awkward role as the right footed left back, on the other side of the pitch, Chloe is a natural right back, and in the centre Khloe and Lilly are becoming a true partnership.

Be proud of yourselves Colts!

The first festival of 2026, and our first as an 11’s team at Blantyre this morning for the Colts.

With strong 2012 teams in the competition we new it would be difficult to repeat last year’s victory and that proved to be the case in our first 2 fixtures where strong performances did not translate to goals and ended in defeats.

However, the girls did not let their heads go down and recovered well to win their final 2 group games, ultimately finishing 3 and qualifying for the semi-final of the Plate.

The best performance of the day saw a dominant performance and comfortable win in the Semi. Unfortunately, the experience and strength of our opponents was too much for the girls to overcome and the Colts finish as runners up.

The coaches were delighted with the performances today and take the positives from another 5 games against physical teams that will see us in good stead for the remainder of the year.

We have welcomed 8 new players and released 2 since 2025’s Blantyre festival. Today’s performances are testimony to how far we’ve come in a year. Well Done Girls!!!

We’re looking to strengthen our Tier 1 squad for the upcoming season and are on the lookout for a proven striker to lead the line.

If you’ve got experience playing as a striker, an eye for goal, and the ability to make an impact in the final third, we want to hear from you.

What we’re looking for:
• Proven experience playing as a striker
• Clinical finishing and composure in front of goal.
• Strong movement, positioning, and link-up play
• Positive attitude, commitment, and reliability

This is a great opportunity to join a competitive Tier 1 side as we build for the season ahead.

On a wet, windy, and cold morning at Broadwood, Cumbernauld Colts 2013s Yellow started our League Cup campaign with the visit of West Park.

The Colts dominated form the off and took control of the game with some excellent attacking football, particularly switching the ball from one wing to the other.

Ruby took the first of her 4 goals well to open the scoring and the girls spent the remainder of the half in the opposition territory, taking a significant lead into the break.

The coaches took the opportunity to make lots of second half changes and many of the girls played in new positions which will help with squad rotation in the weeks to come.

All credit to West Park. The girls heads could have gone down, but they showed great spirit and effort to the final whistle.

The coaches would like to also mention Lilly’s contribution today. Due to squad size, we need to leave a player out of our competitive match squads, and today Lilly volunteered to be the first, while still attending the game to support her teammates despite the horrible conditions. Great leadership from Lilly.

POTM - Ruby - Our coaches player of the year in 2025 had initially struggled with our move to 11’s, but has never let her head go down. We were convinced that it would only be a matter of time before she got back to form. This started with a great shift for the team last week and was followed by today’s goal haul. Welcome back Ruby!!!

Our girls spent the evening at Barrowfield to play Lusk United who are over from Ireland visiting Celtic for the weekend. The girls got off to a flyer right from the start and put in a really dominant performance which saw the girls play some really nice football and score some cracking goals but unfortunately let the clean sheet slip in the very last moments.

Big thanks to Celtic for the invite to Barrowfield and to Lusk United for a good game. The girls enjoyed the experience.

Onto our league cup tie vs West Park on Sunday morning 💪

Today was the day all the hard work paid off.

In our final grading game, Cumbernauld Colts 2013s Yellow welcomed Bannockburn Girls to Broadwood.

These games are always tight and physical, with a single goal most often being the margin.

This morning, the Colts were at it from the off, with great attacking football. Elise scored early and quickly added a second. The girls heads could have gone down when a penalty was missed and Bannockburn pulled one back. But they reacted brilliantly and almost immediately restored the advantage and that’s how the half ended.

Into the second half, and the Colts really put their foot down with some outstanding football. Slick passing and intelligent movement all over the park put the result beyond any doubt. Having been disappointed in the our last couple of second half performances, the coaches were thrilled to see the girls dominate the game the way they did.

Our start to 11’s football has had it’s ups and downs, but today was a truly complete performance with a result to match; In defence, the girls were in control with excellent communication, strong tackles and composure with the ball. In attack, the passing was slick, the movement was great, the running power on the wings caused problems, and the finishing was clinical.

The girls have worked hard for the coaches in training, particularly in the last 3-4 weeks and those efforts are now being rewarded. Well done Colts!

No POTM today, the entire team were great.

This morning Cumbernauld Colts 2013s Yellow travelled to Bo’ness for our second U14’s grading fixture.

A game that started well ended in disappointment. The Colts were assertive from the off and took an early lead when Macy met Elliie’s back post corner. The woodwork was struck twice in the first half and prevented the Colts taking a greater advantage into the break.

In the second half the good attacking play continued with some great through balls from Chiara to both wings that created great chances.

But 1-0 is always a dangerous scoreline and Bo’ness managed to equalise through an own goal. The Colts struggled for a short spell afterwards, conceding 2 further goals in 10 minutes.

But the girls reacted well to the setback and Chiara scored an excellent goal. The post was also struck for a third time, but Bo’ness took the victory.

Next up, a trip to East Kilbride to face She Can FC.

POTM - Macy - As well as a good first half finish, Macy was constantly dangerous on the left wing and also had an excellent second half spell at left back. A great shift from Macy for the team. Well done!
