Yesterday was the Culm Sampford United Youth Football Club end of season awards and presentation evening to celebrate all our teams players.

After a tough season but one in which the girls always battled, smiled and gave their all it was brilliant to celebrate the season and their successes which culminated in the girls winning The Plate at our home tournament.

The Winners Were:

Brian Reeby Award for outstanding commitment - Keira. Keira has had many nominations for player of the match from opposing teams, has improved massively as our teams keeper and has always supported the coach’s on a weekly basis including recruiting her dad as a coach.

Most Improved Player - Ellie. Whilst each and every player has made great improvement this season the award went to Ellie. She has developed throughout the season, playing in every position except goal. She has done so with a smile on her face, injured ankles but still coming back on and scoring and has developed to be a key part of our team.

Supporters Player and Players Player - Olivia. A clean sweep for Olivia from supporters and players made even more special as she only started playing part way through the season. Her commitment, resilience, perseverance and never stop attitude is infectious and she has become a phenomenal player.

Coach’s Player - Emilie. Always a difficult choice for coach’s player as the girls have all done brilliantly this season. Emilie has been committed since the start, not missing a game and even playing a game in goal to give Keira time on the pitch. Her passion for football, to play for the team, welcome new players into the fold and to accept more criticism than most players being the coach’s step child.

Thanks to all the players, the parents, the club and Mark Cudmore who has joined the coaching team.

Here’s to another season and seeing the progress these girls make each season even if the results don’t always go in our favour.

Finally, thanks for the presents!

Our AGM scheduled for Tuesday 14th July has been rescheduled to Tuesday 8th September.

What can I say about these girls. At the Culm Sampford United Youth Football Club tournament they battled, worked as a team, smiled, laughed and just gave everything like they have done all season irrespective of the score.

It culminated in a Culm Sampford lionesses v Culm Sampford lionesses final in the plate and…..we won.

In true style, a draw after time, penalties were tied, we went to sudden death and every single player from both teams took one and only then did we have a winner.

It just says everything about the girls and a great group to coach. Thanks to the girls and thanks to Mark and all the parents and everyone involved in the team!

A great days footie yesterday with a double header against Cranbrook.

Game 1 a 1-1 draw with a goal from Emilia, a brilliant save from Keira and a player of the match performance from Summer.

Game 2 a 2-0 win with two goals from Emilia and a player of the match performance from Olivia.

A great morning of footie and so good to be back to winning ways and the girls smiling before and after!

Yes Yes Yes. What a morning of footie for the girls a very good 3-0 win against Starcross. A game where it came together, a game where we had all players there, a game where everyone played so well, a game where it just worked and makes it all worth while!

Emilia, Lois and Ellie with the three goals with some good team play for the goals.

Emilia was chosen as player of the match by their players, Emilie as player of the match by their coach and Harriet for me.

What a morning of football by the girls - back to what they do best. Smiles on faces, passing, tackling, shots and a very enjoyable morning. After a couple of tough games a really enjoyable game today against Newton Town. A 4-1 win with a hatrick from Emilia and a good goal from Summer. Great performances from all the girls with player of the match being Summer.

A tough day today for the girls with the result and the weather. The result didn’t reflect the effort or the performance but we kept battling and smiling.

Player of the match chosen by Cullompton was Keira in goal but Harriet was POM for her relentless running and efforts.

Time for a week off and we go again in early November!

A tough game this morning in the cup against a very experienced Stoke Hill team.

Whilst the game was tough the girls kept battling, trying and giving their all.

Next week back to the league but shout out to all the girls especially Ellie G and Keira for their efforts and Emilia as voted POM by Stoke Hill.
