Pulling a funny gym face?



Gym groupers, we’ve got news for you…let’s welcome those gym faces with open arms (or open eyes).



Evidence suggests that those involuntary face pulls are actually designed to improve performance, for example, jaw clenching can increase grip by up to 16% (who would’ve guessed it!)



So how does it work, you may ask? When the area of the brain that’s responsible for these facial expressions is firing up, this can prime other areas of the brain which are responsible for your moving parts, how cool.



Gym face > Straight Face any day.

We are pleased to welcome John Denton () who has recently joined the gym team as a Personal Trainer.

John is a fitness enthusiast, having served in HM armed forces and then competitive kickboxing.

John has been a member of The Gym in East Croydon since it opened its doors, and you may have already met him. Feel free to say hi if you haven't!

John is offering a free PT taster session to potential new clients so please speak to him in the gym, or contact him through the Gym Group app or via his email address ([email protected]).

We are pleased to announce and welcome Darryl Howard who recently joined the East Croydon team!

He is a PT, Strength & Conditioning Coach and a Swim Teacher 🏊‍♀️ 💪

You may have already seen or met him already walking around as well as assisting members. If you haven’t say hey 👋😁

He is offering PT taster sessions so feel free to speak to him in the club or you can find him on The Gym Group App.
