Watching Croston and Tarleton battle it out in T20 cricket is not for the fainthearted.

Tarleton punish our opening bowlers. Feels like it's going to be a tough watch. But then Croston strike back, slow Tarleton's run rate, take 7 wickets, 153 scored off the 20 overs. Game on.

Croston's openers hit 101 before a wicket is taken in the 12th over, Harry Barker having raised his bat (again!) Surely we can do it? Then wickets fall rapidly in the 18th and 19th overs, run rate slows. Too much left to do? 18 needed to win off the last over. Then Liam Gaskell hits 3 confident 4s in a row, accessing all areas of the ground. It's tense and through necessity pushes a risky 2 and gets run out. Can Myles Parker enter and hit a heroic 4 to win off the final ball. Sadly not and slips in the process. Tarleton celebrate, Croston left with "if only..."

Things we love to see

This week saw not one, not two but three sets of brothers playing for Croston’s first team.

We won’t get into the debate about who is the better Parsons/ Parker/ Bradley - they do that themselves - but how good was it to see 2 pairs of brothers bat together and the other pair both bowl. And all delivered for the team.

Tough day today for the senior teams with both recording losses.

After setting a competitive total, with Jake Parsons reaching another half century and the bowlers taking early wickets the 1s faced some strong Shireshead & Forton batting and credit goes to the visitors for their performance.

It's nearly the weekend so team sheets are in

The 1s have new opposition in the shape of Shireshead & Forton, who were promoted from the Westmorland League at the end of last season. Unusually this is the third home game in a row for the Croston 1XI meaning the 2XI are off on their travels to Fylde.

And the W&G team are loving their cricket so much they've jumped at the chance of a return visit to Burscough and have squeezed in a friendly on Sunday.

Here's hoping for decent weather for all fixtures, including our u13s who are playing at Tarleton on Friday evening. Go well everyone 🏏
