🖤🧡 Cup Final Day – So Proud of This Group 🧡🖤

Amaranth U9 Blacks 4–4 Wakefield Reds
(Wakefield win on penalties)

After our semi‑final win, the boys arrived at Woodkirk ready for the challenge of a cup final — and what a game it turned out to be. Despite missing two key players through injury, the lads showed incredible character, resilience, and togetherness from start to finish.

On a perfect day for football, both teams played their part in a thrilling contest. We fell behind against the run of play, but the response from the boys was outstanding — heads up, playing our football and competing the right way. In a back‑and‑forth game where neither side would give an inch, it finished 4–4 and went to penalties.

It takes real bravery to step forward in a cup final shoot‑out, and the courage, unity and spirit the boys showed made the coaches immensely proud. This time it just wasn’t our day.

👏 Huge congratulations to Wakefield on the win. A very competitive match and a class act in victory — we’re full of respect for how they conducted themselves at the final whistle. Three meetings this season, and today they took the honours.

🖤 As coaches, we couldn’t be prouder of every single player. Their effort, attitude and commitment to playing the right way were exceptional on such a big stage.

🙌 The support today was unbelievable. Thank you to everyone who gave up their Sunday to cheer the boys on — it genuinely meant so much to the players and staff. And a special shout‑out to our mini cheerleaders, who brought the noise and the smiles and made the day even more special!

🚍 A Leeds semi‑final at Wembley awaits next week, followed by a trip to Rhyl on 1 May. So much to look forward to — and this group is only just getting started!

Coaches: “No game this weekend because of the school holidays.”

Players & Parents: “Right… so can we train instead?” 😅

With no fixture over the holidays, the boys still chose to get together and put the work in. Who needs to finish off the Easter chocolate when you can run drills with your mates instead? 😄⚽

Brilliant turnout and top effort from everyone as preparations continue for our Cup Final on Sunday 19 April.

📣 This is where YOU come in…

The lads deserve a big crowd and plenty of support from the touchline to help push them over the line:

⏰ 11:00am kick‑off
🗓 Sunday 19 April

Special mention to Carter, who popped down to be part of the group despite being sidelined with a broken collarbone. Proper commitment, mate 👊 Get well soon!

Let’s pack the touchline, bring the support, and get right behind the boys for the final! 🧡💜

💚 WE DID IT! THANK YOU, AMARANTH FAMILY! 💚

We are absolutely delighted to share that Amaranth U9 Blacks have officially reached our fundraising target 🎉⚽

This incredible achievement would not have been possible without the support of our amazing families, friends, local community and supporters. Every bit of help — big or small — truly made a difference.

From Christmas Carols that brought festive cheer, to Tombolas and Raffles, exciting Race Nights, hardworking Bag Packing (which included some Valentines Day treats for our local community), and of course our popular football cards — every event was powered by your generosity, time and enthusiasm.

Not forgetting our Run to Rhyl challenge, which is still very much in progress! 🏃‍♂️💨
We’ve already covered an incredible 199 miles, with just 23 miles to go before 1 May. Keep your eyes peeled for the update — we’re on the home straight now! 👀🙌

And now it’s all paying off… we have a busy (and very exciting!) couple of weeks ahead. First up, our first ever Cup Final on 19 April 2026 🏆 — and everyone is more than welcome to come along and support the lads as they take to the pitch for this huge moment! 💚⚽

Then it’s straight into packing our bags and heading off to Rhyl on 1 May for the tournament that you helped make possible 🚌⚽

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, attended events, shared posts, and cheered us on along the way. You’ve shown the boys what teamwork, community and support really mean ❤️

We are so proud to be part of such a fantastic club and community. On behalf of the players, coaches and parents — thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Honestly… these kids don’t even know they’re born 😄💚
💚⚽ Up the Amaranth U9 Blacks! ⚽💚

🖤 Amaranth Blacks – Match Day Round‑Up! 🖤

A big thank you to Methley Blacks for making the journey over to us today. Game played in great spirit 🤝

Plenty of action down at the farm this morning, with the lads putting in a huge shift in some seriously wild conditions — at one point we weren’t sure whether to pass the ball or anchor it to the ground! 🌬️⚽

The first‑half football was brilliant: great movement, smart use of space, and some lovely attacking play. The second half threw different challenges our way, but with only nine available players, an early party dash, and a couple of knocks, every single lad showed real grit and determination. Proud. 👏

We keep playing, we keep building, and we move forward towards the cup final. Onwards and upwards. 🖤✨

🏆 Coaches’ Player – Oliver
Outstanding in midfield and topped it with a classy finish.

🏆 Referee’s Player – George
Broke up play brilliantly and stopped countless attacks through the middle.

🏆 Opposition Player – Dalaigh
Back‑to‑back recognition for our No.19 — big saves and even a cameo up front!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, everyone! 😄

🏃‍♂️ Run to Rhyl Update: 186 Miles Down — AND TEAM SPIRIT SKY HIGH! With no game last week, the boys showed exactly what this squad is made of. Most teams might spend a free weekend relaxing on the sofa… Not these lads.

They saw an empty fixture list and said, “Great — more time to tire ourselves out, and hang out with friends!” So instead of putting their feet up, they turned the break into a team‑building mileage mission, smashing a park run (some loved it, some tolerated it, and at least one pretended it was “just a warm‑up”) and heading out on group walks. The team need to complete another 36 miles, which then sees them achieve their target of 222 miles as a collective. That is some going.

Today’s progress brings us into Rochdale, home of “The Dale”.

💙 Rochdale Football Facts as We Pass Through
📘 Record‑Breaking Resilience
Rochdale AFC spent 36 consecutive seasons in the Football League’s bottom tier (1974–2010) — the longest such run in league history.
🏆 History Makers in 1962
They became the first club from the lowest division to reach a major domestic cup final when they charged into the 1962 League Cup Final — the ultimate “we’re not supposed to be here… but here we are” moment.
🏟️ Spotland: A Classic Football Ground Since 1920
Rochdale have played at Spotland Stadium (now the Crown Oil Arena) since 1920 — a stadium so traditional it probably smells faintly of meat pies and long‑cleared goalmouth scrambles.
🌟 Craig Dawson — From Rochdale to the Premier League
One of Rochdale’s biggest modern success stories is Craig Dawson. Signed from Radcliffe Borough, he impressed at Spotland before moving to West Brom, then becoming a Premier League regular with West Ham and Wolves. Proof that big things can grow in small places… especially towering centre‑backs.

💬 What a Week for the Boys
✔ No‑game weekend turned into a team‑building marathon
✔ Park run (completed with varying degrees of enthusiasm)
✔ Team walks (mostly forward)
