We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Gordon Barnes several days ago.

Gordon’s impact on the Fugies was immeasurable.
He was an absolute stalwart for many decades holding every position on and off the field.

He captained the club to one of its most memorable honours - winning the Girobank Cup in 1982.
He continued to lead the 1st XI through most of the 80s and then the 2nd & 3rd XI in the 90s when he imparted his knowledge and experience to many of the current players.

His dedication was maintained after playing as he chaired both the cricket section and the Athletic Club for many years. In more recent times, he acted as Club President.

Everyone at the Fugitives sends love and best wishes to Kath, Richard, Simon, Tim and the whole of the Barnes family 💙

FINAL FIXTURES OF THE SEASON! 💙

We’re heading into the final stretch with plenty still to play for! 🔥

Our Hardball Women’s Development Team have two games left this season, starting tonight, while our Senior 1st, 2nd & 3rd XIs are all set for their final league games of the campaign.

And it’s the final weekend of fixtures for our Hardball Development and Div 1 teams too! 👏

Let’s finish the season on a high, get behind all our teams and make these last games ones to remember! 💪🏏

Here’s how the 1st, 2nd & 3rd XI got on this weekend, with plenty of standout performances across the teams.

What a fantastic performance from all players today! 🏏👏

With the ball, Daisy Felvus (3-19) and Ellen Mitchell (3-19) got us off to a brilliant start, backed up by excellent spells from Meg Rowlands (5 overs, just 7 runs), Emily Rodway (2-1) and Zoe Jeffs (2-9). Solid spells from Coral Hill, Pixie Davies and Helene Lewis helped restrict Malpas to 130 all out.
An incredible 8 wickets were bowled - a real testament to how straight we bowled as a team!

Two great catches from Melody Blackmore, while Rachel Rodway’s excellent boundary stops were also hugely important in a very close game.

With the bat, we recovered superbly after losing two early wickets. Kate Jones (19) steadied the ship before Melody Blackmore’s fantastic 62* was brilliantly supported by Ellen Mitchell (24*). Two partnerships of 50+ saw us home by 7 wickets and secured the maximum 20 points! 🙌

A huge thanks to Rob for organising the team, Louis for umpiring at square leg, and our scorer Darren for putting in a fabulous shift too!

And finally, thank you to Malpas for a fantastic, competitive game played in such a great spirit. 💙🏏

Thursday Night Thriller 🏏

What a game on Thursday night between two highly skilled U15 sides. It really couldn’t have been closer, with both teams showing great cricket and taking the game right down to the wire.

The match ended in a tie with the Fugies victorious by having lost fewer wickets.

Full credit to Croesyceiliog for a fantastic contest and a brilliant performance.
