Last Friday Our Team had an Autumn catch up whilst carrying out our Citizen Scientist trash count and survey in the village. We counted 157 items of single use pollution on our 1.1km of designated trail which, although an improvement on 241 in August, was still a shame on such a lovely stretch of trail.
We found 70 items on the playground and 131 on the playing field and surrounding areas.

On a cycling and camping trip to Llanberis last Saturday we spotted Trash Free Trails on the Llanberis pass. What an epic team! After arranging some talented mountaineers to abseil to an unreachable gulley the previous day and collect litter , the TFT team walked up to carry it down from the mountain. And a bit of citizen science too! It was so lovely to bump into them by chance. Great work and what a lovely surprise 😍💚🚴🧗.

We had lots of fun today carrying out our second Trash Free Trails Citizen Science Survey and Trash Count with the help of a few new young recruits. Thanks so much to Felix, Louis and Eva 🙏❤️. We collected 129 pieces rubbish from the playground and 96 from the playing fields and logged what we found to submit to a national survey. We also counted the number of pieces along our designated trail. The worst culprit was tear off corners from food packets 🍫🍬as well as full dog poo bags 💩😕. We will be continuing to survey these areas over the next two years.

We welcomed PJ and Dom from Trash Free Trails last week to train us as Citizen Scientists. We are 1 of only 10 centres in the UK selected in a national 2 year pilot collecting data to understand the amount of trash on our trails and how it's affecting flora and fauna, as well as ourselves. We will be focusing on the playing fields and playground as well as a route along the canal and Moss Hall Lane. We will keep you posted 😁🟢

We've had a great May with, amongst other events, a fabulous weekend in Dolgellau cheering on Kev Cronshey, Sam Jones and Shaun Rayne who were running the CADER IDRIS Mountain RACE for the first time. It's was an inspiring day with amazing atmosphere although some serious heat🥵. Well done - all three of you were awesome 💪💪💪.

We've had a great day at Dr Bike St James school today. We checked 18 bikes ready for Bikeability after half term. Bikes all ready to be collected at school pick up time. Happy pedalling. 🚲🚲🚲

Our Spokes and Laces Community Liaison cyclist Sue kicked off her racing season at the Manchester and District Ladies Cycling Association 10 mile time trail on Saturday with a massive PB of 28:03! She went on to her best course time yesterday in the .clarion.wheelers weekly Club 10mile TT with an exciting sprint finish at 28:55. The club 10 events on Wednesday from Crewe Vagrants are a good introduction to time trialling with a great bunch of supportive riders - just turn up at 6:15pm to register.
Good luck with the rest of the season Sue - it's exciting to see whats in store.

What a great Earth Day Spring Clean in Audlem. Another fantastic turn out from local residents, the Cubs and Guides. These brilliant volunteers went in search of any trash that had collected in the green spaces and walkways of the village.

We then sorted it into plastics, metals and others before it went to the local waste disposal site.

Thanks to everyone who popped in to say hello and wanted to get involved in our future clean ups.

Finally, thanks to Audlem Public Hall for the venue, 's Veg Boxes and Sue Satchi for the cakes and biscuits, the Guides for making drinks and Trash Free Trails for supporting us as one of their Community Hubs.

Be involved in Audlem's big Earth Day Spring Clean this Saturday. We're going to remove as much trash from the village's walkways and green spaces as possible to keep it looking beautiful and keep us connecting with nature.

Will you give just one hour of your time to help us out? We'll supply the kit so just need your friendly faces and enthusiasm to make a positive change.

As well as pickers, we'd appreciate anyone who would be willing to make drinks and/or treats for our team. Let us know if you'd be keen to help out in whatever way possible.
