Match report

Match day # 3 Hoops v Ponteland (Cup) 🏆

An eventful morning has saw an unfortunate cup exit for the Hoops, out on penalties.

Starting lineup:
GK - Charlie
LB - Shay
CB - Dylan
CB - Max
RB - Jack
CDM - Sol
CM - Tom
CM - Charlie
LF - Jayden
RF - Danny
CF - Callum

Starting on the bench we’re Corey, James, Harrison & Ethan.

Ponteland started the match the better side using their technical players to cause us some issues. The first chance came and fell for Ponteland, but a good defensive line caused an offside and goal disallowed. 😅

Cramlington then came more into the game after the early scare with Jayden running at the back line and shooting narrowly wide. 🤏🏻

Another run from Jayden unlocked the stubborn Ponteland defence and his shot was saved well but fell to Callum who tapped it in to give The Hoops the lead. 1-0 Hoops ⚽️

Following the goal, Ponteland got back into the match quickly and put our defenders to work. A miscommunication at the back saw the ball fall to their number 9, but Charlie was quick to parry to effort wide of the post. 🧤

Cramlington continued to dominate the ball for large spells of the first half. Jayden and Danny both had cutbacks defended well against which disallowed Callum to continue his goal scoring. This spell of pressure on Ponteland cultivated in Jayden striking just over the bar with a fierce effort. 😫

At this point, Steve & I freshened up the play by bringing all of our substitutes on.

For the next 5 minutes as the half waded out, a couple of tackles for both sides were brought into question from the referee which set us up for a fiery end to the half. 💪🏻

The first half ended with chances going to Ponteland. Max defending excellently against their tricky winger and a good chance missing the boot of one of their players at the back post. Hoops went into the second half in lead following a fairly close first half. 🙌🏻

At half time, we asked the lads to try keep the ball down and get the patterns of play to emerge as this is how we created our best chances of the day. As always, we asked the lads to respect the referee as well. The lads listened to our instructions well going into the second half. 🙂

The second half started slowly for both sides. The Hoops had a good spell of possession for the first couple of minutes but weren’t able to unlock the Ponteland defence. Following a quick transition for Ponteland, they caused pressure on our far right side - sending the ball out for a few throw ins and then a corner. The lads stuck in well though and defended this pressure valiantly. 👌🏻

Unfortunately, Ponteland did reap the reward of their pressure when a ball in from the right side found their number 10 who struck home a volley sweetly - she had been a danger women all game! 1-1 Hoops ⚽️

The Hoops were quick to dust themselves off and go again. Some nice movement in the middle of the midfield found a ball to Callum who held onto the ball past 3 players & then laid the ball off to James who struck it beautifully with his trademark finish and the ball flew into the right corner. Brilliant hold up play from Callum and excellent finish James. 2-1 Hoops ⚽️⚽️

The game then proceeded to get quite physical with the lads putting in tremendous effort. Ponteland continued to cause us problems in the channels and a ball from the wing found one of their players back post again. Unfortunate goal to concede given how much the lads were putting into the game. 2-2 Hoops ⚽️⚽️

The game proceeded to fizzle out following this goal. With the weather changing, both sides were going for the winner in the closing stages. A long ball from Charlie in goal bounced over everyone and midfield and found the run of Jayden, the shot agonisingly going wide - hard lines! The ref blew his whistle & as the match was 2-2, pens started straight away. 🤝🏻

Thank you to all of the boys who stepped up to take a penalty, everyone was full of confidence & getting ready for the showdown. All the lads who took a penalty struck well but unfortunately The Hoops narrowly lost out 4-3 on pens. 🙁

Not the best way to end a game of football but Steve & I did take positives in the game. We’re still a new team and the lads have started so well so hopefully this doesn’t knock our confidence and we can kick on in the league and show everyone how good we are! Staying positive and keeping our heads held high is key for us to enjoy our football. 💪🏻🙌🏻🔴⚪️🔴

Man of the match was a hard one with lots of strong contenders but the MOTMs were as follows:

Jack - Danny, from the first minute he had such a positive attitude and listening to our instructions so well playing some really good football. 😃

Steve - Callum, goal and an assist today, great hold up play in the middle and unselfish. Fantastic game Callum. 💃🏻

Thanks for everyone for coming out and helping set up & dismantle the goals.

Best of luck to Ponteland in the next round of the cup and for their league season. 🤝🏻

Match report

Match day #2 Hoops v Whitley Bay

Thanks again to Steve for the match report in my absence - will be back on the touch line for Sunday. Thanks again to Andrew for stepping in.

Hoops denied by late leveller!

Sometimes you don't quite get what you deserve from a game. Personally thought we were good value for the three points, limiting the hosts to very few chances, while on the other side of things we could have had another two or three quite easily.

All credit to Whitley Bay who worked hard to keep in the game, and this was rewarded.

Lots of positives again for us, remain unbeaten and controlled the game for long periods.

Be short in details as I spent most of game trying to keep glasses clear. 😅

Going against the wind, looked threatening when we kept it on the floor. James did well to create opportunity for Jayden who struck home beautifully . Second goal came from the keeper s mistimed clearance, good composure again from Jayden.

We hit the post and a number of shots just went wide.

Ht 2-0

Second half was more of an arm wrestle but still think we had the better of the chances. Hosts were quick on the break and this led to a penalty, struck in well.

Looked like we were quite comfortable seeing the game out but Whitley created one late chance and we're clinical.

We pressed hard for a winner but wasn't to be.

Ft 2-2

We lined up 4-2-3-1 again.
Charlie
Jack Corey Max Shay
Sol Tom
James Harrison Ethan Jayden

Coming on as game changers were Dylan Danny Charlie Callum

Skipper for the night was Jayden, and was impressed with how he went over and supported Callum. That's what we should be all about, supporting each other and being positive

Man of Match Award Winners.

Andrew chose Shay - awesome game so calm on the ball.

Mine Sol who had a really strong game in the middle.

Thanks to Andrew for helping me again, much appreciated.

Well done Hoops, 4 points on the board already👏👏 We look forward now to Cup action on Sunday. ⚽🙂

Match report

Match day #1 Hoops v Walker

A big thanks to Andrew for stepping in for me whilst on holiday. Thanks to Steve for the match report:

Hoops off to a great start!

Really enjoyable first league game between two evenly matched sides, on the balance of play thought we just about deserved the three points. All 14 of the boys put in a great shift, giving it their all, work rate tremendous, not to mention brilliant skills and lots of tenacious defending. Couldn’t have asked for more, all credit to the boys for how they have come together.

Hoops started the better, and it was a deserved lead they took on 9 minutes, Jayden good work on the right then a powerful cross to the left side of the area, great touch and a wonderous finish from the skipper Tom!

This seemed to shake Walker into action, Charlie H making a fine save, but a minute or two later the pressure paid off with a nice finish from their excellent striker.

Walker then enjoyed their best spell of the game, as they put us on the back foot and we struggled to get forward, a lovely finish giving the visitors the lead. You have spells in games when the opposition are on top and the good thing was we worked hard to stay in the game, and this paid off when a lovely through ball set Jayden away and he drilled home on 28. Jayden and Charlie O then went close, and right on half time it was that man again Jayden breaking through and this time beating the keeper when one on one.

HT 3-2

Second half and we again started well, a number of chances to extend the lead after some excellent passing play, Walker weathered the storm and ended the game strongly, but our defence were on top form to limit them to very few opportunities.

No further score in the second half, so it was good to hear the final whistle to signal the three points had gone to the Hoops.

FT 3-2

Charlie H great organising and a couple of super stops. Defence of Jack, Corey, Sol and Shay were amazing against strong attacking players, Jack picking up Andrews Man of the Match choice, don’t think he lost a challenge all day and he had a lot of tackles to make, while his distribution was first class.

In centre mid Dylan and Tom formed a great partnership, Charlie O working hard and getting in great positions further up the field, Harrison then coming on and covering a lot of ground from advanced role to help out the team. Out wide Callum and Danny gave us a good platform, and this was taken up well by Ethan and James when they came on in that role. Great effort James considering being late back into the country and having jetlag.

Up front Jaydens pace and intensity really caused Walker lots of problems and for his two goals and assist he was my Man of the Match choice.

No training Wednesday as we have a game Thursday away at Whitely Bay (not Tuesday ignore the app that is up to the Whitely Bay Manager to change)

Go Hoops! Super job everyone.
👏👏⚽🔴⚫🔴
Today we setup in a 4-2-3-1 formation – Starting were Charlie H Jack, Corey, Sol, Shay, Dylan, Tom, Danny, Charlie O Callum, Jayden While coming on to change the game were Harrison, Ethan and James.

**Preseason roundup & match report**

Pre season roundup

A brilliant preseason from the lads who have went undefeated scoring 16 goals and only conceding 4 in 4 games. A very good effort from all players who are practically a new team (although you wouldn’t think it from watching the lads). 👌🏻👌🏻

We have tried various formations, player positions and tactics and as coaches, we are very optimistic heading into the season. 😁🙌🏻

Preseason results:

Swalwell 1 Hoops 5
Alnwick 1 Hoops 6
Whites 1 Hoops 1
Washington 1 Hoops 4

Match report (Newbiggin Hall v Hoops)

What a match! The lads continuing their impressive streak of scoring goals in preseason. Starting XI today was:

GK - Charlie H
LB - Shay
CB - Sol
CB - Corey
RB - Jack
CDM - Harrison
CM - Tom
CM - Charlie O
LF - Ethan
ST - Callum
RF - Danny

Subs Jayden & Logan

Thanks Logan for stepping in for our missing players today. Great contribution 😁

The game started quick with it only taking 5 minutes for Callum’s inviting cross to find the boot of Ethan lurching at the back post. 1-0 Hoops ⚽️

After the first goal, Newbiggin Hall grew into the game where it took Corey to defend brilliantly for us to avoid going 1-1. A couple minutes later, a long range strike from Harrison stung the gloves of the Newbiggin Hall goalkeeper, what would be the start of some impressive saves. 🧤

Coming onto the pitch was Jayden & Logan at around minute 18. Subbed off was Callum & Danny.

Following a quick break, we had Logan take on 2 defenders brilliantly and strike the ball to beat the goalkeeper. 2-0 Hoops ⚽️⚽️

After the goal, Newbiggin Hall again came back into the game using the surface against us. Their danger man all game in the midfield had a fierce strike that flew into the Hoops net. 2-1 Hoops 🤝🏻

Fortunately, after kick off, a mix up in the Newbiggin Hall defence saw Jayden with an open goal - contuining his goal scoring form! 3-1 Hoops ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Cramlington continued to be on top going into the break. A superb run & shot from Jayden found the gloves of the Newbiggin Hall keeper to keep his team in the game first half. We then had our very own Charlie smother the ball following a fast ball over the top from Newbiggin Hall. 🤠

Half time. 3-1 Hoops 💃🏻

Impressive first half performance from the lads forcing their keeper into some good saves. We asked the players to start hitting the ball longer and switching play over to the “less grassy side” which they done brilliantly in the second half.

This request bore fruit early on in the second half with the Hoops starting to dominate the game. A switch from Shay in the left back position hit Callum on the right a smart pass into Jayden who showed some tricky skills in the box and powered it into the opposition net! 4-1 Hoops. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

The lads continued to pile pressure on the Newbiggin Hall goal with their keeper really earning his saves bonus over the next 10 minutes or so. Charlie O started a trademark run through the heart of the pitch, beating 2 men but not able to find it past the keeper. The ball then rebounded to Logan who forced the keeper into another excellent save. Ethan then saw a shot go narrowly wide to extend his account for the day. 😫

After the relentless chances on the opposition goal, we had a throw in through Jack who found Tom, then a lovely through ball to the feet of Jayden with a beautiful finish into the bottom right corner. This completed Jayden’s hat trick. 5-1 Hoops ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Newbiggin Hall with some fresh changes found another goal. Their danger man in the midfield with another long range strike that was too powerful to keep out the net. Hard lines Charlie who got his hands to it. 5-2 Hoops 🤝🏻

The goal spurred the opposition on for the following 5 minutes with pressure being applied to our defence. A questionable free kick following a sliding challenge from Corey saw Newbiggin Hall with a 25 yard effort at goal which Charlie saved comfortably. 🧤

A couple of changes saw us retake the foothold of the game with Ethan having a header saved at the far post and Callum hitting narrowly wide. 😅

The Hoops received a corner which was swung in with ferocity. This caused a mixup on the Newbiggin Hall back line which Callum pounced on to score his first of the day! 6-2 Hoops ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

A brilliant drive from Logan down the right channel following a ball from Jayden caused the goalkeeper into another great save. Charlie O then came agonisingly close to getting on the scoresheet but the keeper again with the save from the rebounded ball. 😭

We then continued to push up the pitch with Shay winning the ball in LB and switching the play to the RF Callum. Callum then took a superb touch and set himself for a strike into the top right corner. Brilliant finish making it 7-2 to the Hoops. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Shortly after, Newbiggin Hall had an attack that Sol smothered and played a peach of a 30 yard ball onto the run of Logan who put the ball in the back of the net with a tidy finish. 8-2 Hoops ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

In the closing stages of the game, Cramlington continued to apply pressure to the Newbiggin Hall goal. A corner from Logan, following a deflected shot, found the head of Ethan who had been waiting back post all game. Brilliant commitment to continue to make the runs and Ethan finds his second of the day. 9-2 Hoops. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

This then drew the end to an entertaining match for Cramlington. Thanks to Newbiggin Hall for hosting us - best of luck this season. FT result 9-2 Hoops!! 🔴⚪️🔴

Jack’s MOTM: Ethan 🙌🏻
