Culloden 3 - 2 Conon

A tough defeat to take tonight as Culloden secure the win at the Bught. A good battle between the 2 teams, however Culloden came out on top with 2 cracking strikes from distance. Conon managed to reply with 2 goals from Scott MacDonald in the second half and were unlucky to not grab a 3rd. Culloden managed to find the net late in the game and held on for the win.

Catching up from this weeks action. Conon progress to the next stage of the Inverness District Football Association Cup with a 5-2 win over Stratton Wanderers on Wednesday.

Gary Millard opened the scoring to start off his MOTM performance in the middle of the park. A quick double from Scott MacDonald brought the score to 3-0 within 20 minutes and a 4th added by Roan Scobie soon after. Conon found themselves a bit flat for a period as Stratton came into the game scoring 2 before half time. The second half had opportunities from both sides but it was Conon who managed to find the net through another Roan Scobie finish.

Another week of availability struggles sees on the end of another rough defeat. 9-0 to the strong home side Inverness.

Credit to the lads who showed and battled under the circumstances. Couldn’t fault effort levels. Fielding an 11 with no subs and having to play 80 minutes with 10 due to injuries.

We turn our focus onto next weeks fixture against Ardersier at home in Conon.

Conon bounce back from the last couple weeks gruelling defeats with a comfortable win against the young Balloan side. After a dip in availability the last couple weeks we returned to better form to add another 3 points to the board.

Adrian Voigt opened the scoring with an effort from outside the box, which was soon doubled by Archie Ryder scoring on his return to the club. Scott MacDonald fired in the 3rd after some good linking up with Kyle Mackenzie. The second half seen less action as we struggled to add more goals to the tally. Archie Ryder was then through on goal once again to rocket his second of the game into the top corner to seal off an excellent return performance.

Gaffers MOTM: Sean McAlister for an outstanding performance winning every battle in the centre of the park.

Next Monday we face Inverness Athletic FC away.

Unfortunately that’s us out the cup as we lose away to Avoch. A lot of positives to take from the performance as the only thing missing was putting the ball in the net. Avoch being the more clinical team on the night secured them a place in the final.

We now look on to Monday as we invite Avoch AFC to Conon for a league fixture in what’s sure to be another good battle.

Defeat in Maryburgh last night in the local derby. Unfortunately our worst showing so far in a very positive season, however a number of injury problems within the squad seen us depleted on the night.

Two first half goals and a third added in the second half from Maryburgh without any response from Conon, seen the game finish 3 - 0 to the home side.
