The all or nothing mentality when it comes to the gym and dieting will KILL your progress faster than almost anything else… here’s why
Getting in shape is a long and slow process, not only does it take a while to get to your goal, but it also takes consistent effort to maintain it once you get there.
If you have an all or nothing mentality when it comes to training, dieting etc. You will never really be able to keep your results long term…
You may get results short term whilst you do everything exactly as you think they “should be” done, but then as soon as you mess up on your diet, or miss a few days training, you will have huge resistance to getting back to doing everything perfectly. If you’re an all or nothing person you will know exactly what I’m talking about.
Staying in shape long term is just too hard if you’re trying to do everything perfectly all the time. It’s just too difficult for most people… instead try this:
Just do what you can, as often as you can, and accept things are going to not be perfect, and they are going to be a bit messy.
This kind of thinking is far more flexible, and it makes staying in shape much easier - you won’t be perfect, but if your able to do everything right 80% of the time, and your able to stick to that long term, its SO much better than being perfect every other month or every six months.
Consistency Is incredibly important - if the way you’re approaching your diet and training is not optimised for consistency, your plan has a huge weakness.
Fix the consistency problem, and watch your results soar as you accumulate months and years of progress
