I’ve had the absolute BEST time with a week FULL of birthday celebrations, I’ve been the centre of attention for so long that it’s going to be hard for me to go back to reality 💁🏻‍♀️

Started with a stay in Margate, rooftop sunsets and morning Sauna cold plunges 🧊 the wholesome start I needed to see in the new decade.

Then came vodka luges, cake, a Lebanese feast, house parties, Polaroids, trays of shots and digi cams with the absolute best friends and family 🧡🧡🧡

A well needed yin yoga session 🙏🏻 And to top it all off POTM at netball 🏆

I have felt so loved and full of joy, thank you everyone who made it so special 🫶🫶🫶

🧘🏻‍♀️ Being a yoga teacher has taught me a lot about myself.

This week I realised it taught me to feel comfortable standing up in front of people and talking. For my NHS role I was presenting at our trust’s Therapies Conference on a speech therapy project I have been working on.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that teaching yoga shaped how I present as I believe it’s the things we practice in one part of life that show up in other parts. Standing up in front of a class of yoga students has taught me how to connect with a room full of people, hold space, pace and project my voice. It has also taught me how to be flexible and take real time feedback.

Yoga teaching has helped me find and develop my authentic voice. So whether you’re a colleague, a friend, or a yogi you’ll recognise me speaking on any matter.

And if I had been nervous 😬 , because of yoga, I would have known exactly what to do about that too.

Day 7 of 6am dog walks on no sleep and I’m digging deep for the gratitude 🥴🙅🏻‍♀️

I know practising gratitude feels like it should be all peace and love, but if you wait for that feeling what if it never comes.

In my opinion it’s about showing up for yourself *even when it’s tough* and *even when you’re grumpy*
That’s when the real gratitude happens.

This morning I was taking photos of my surroundings when I noticed that I felt a breeze for the first time in a month!! And suddenly I was feeling gratitude for my beautiful morning walk!
And I was very grateful for the AC in the car! 🧊 🥶

I don’t think there’s a right was to practise gratitude but it does work, and can really help to shift a mood ✌🏼

The theme was sailing, trippy architecture and, as always, self care! It was all about fun, kicking back and chilling.

Had the best time in Rotterdam, might as well work for the tourist board at this point the amount of times I have recommended it!

We stayed on a 1940s tugboat and a trip out on it was the absolute highlight!

The architecture is so unusual, each building seems to be trying to outdo the one next door.

That laughter is like music to my ears! That and our matching anklets 🎶 💃🏻

The BEST break with the BEST people. I cannot believe how long we have known each other!!
Sangria, gambas Pil-Pil and 4 hours in a karaoke bar 🎤 (I think I may have missed my calling as a performer). I even snuck in a beach yoga session 🙏🏻

Laughter is so good for your wellbeing, it helps lower inflammation, taps into your vagus nerve which helps stimulate your ‘rest and digest’ nervous system. This is your sign to get the girls trip out of the group chat

Perfect timing with the start of the World Cup! Today I got to teach yoga to an under 15 girls football team ⚽️

And let’s be honest, the start of the session was chaos! There was laughter, chatting and difficulty maintaining any form of stillness but by the end of the session it was a completely different space. Quiet, calm and still.

It was really fun to be able to teach body awareness, how to take up space, strength, balance and the power of pranayama to young women. I hope they can take their skills to the pitch and remember to practise their breathwork before any penalties ⚽️ 🥅
Hopefully they went away feeling empowered 💪🏼

Wahoo another year teaching yoga 🎉🎉

I can’t believe it’s been another year of yoga. This year has been quieter with more focus on restorative yoga and only teaching what I have capacity for.

Here are 4 lessons I have learned after 4 years of teaching

💜 I’m not everyone’s fave teacher, and that’s ok. It takes time to find the right teachers for you, it’s good to try lots of classes.

💚 Modern life and hustle culture does not lend itself to being comfortable with rest, so it’s hard to teach people that it’s important to rest. Often yogis are waiting for my permission to rest. I try to remind everyone at the start that it’s their hour and if something feels great and they want to do more then listen to their body.

🧡 I absolutely cannot tell whether you are able touch your toes when you walk into my class. Bodies are capable of lots of things that are not determined by age or size

💛 People have been conditioned to use negative language about themselves, and it takes time to unlearn that. I try to model and encourage neutral language as I believe you become what you say you are.
