Forgive yourself and love yourself as you are! What are you trying to prove!? What do you want to do? Build a strong foundation! It can be challenging getting back to strength after time off for whatever reason. It feels hard when we try to rush it.
That is why I Especially loved my session with Leslie Abrahams (if you have seen me lately you have seen the work!), for reminding me to slow down. I used to want things now and faster and more of them, but the message now is less hast more speed. Or less haste and less speed! đŸ˜‚đŸ„°

Don’t fall into the old person’s trap of trying to be who you WERE. When I say old I mean dead inside, not an age.

if you want to stick with yoga- I mean long enough for it to work- you don’t need to try so hard. Just be consistent. Even consistent ish will do at the beginning.

For anyone considering one or two hip replacements, or knees for that matter, I can’t recommend my drs enough. I don’t understand why their rapid, muscle sparing technique isn’t the standard! Also the shorter surgery time means many who are not eligibility but are in pain can be treated. Waiting lists could be slashed!

It’s been 3 months!

There were times over the last 3 years when I wondered if I would ever walk normally again.

It is so fun to be FREE again!!! At this point there are ZERO restrictions on what I can do.

I am back walking all over the place, and doing all the yoga poses that I actually want to do, (sorry navasana, it might be over between us), including handstands obviously.

I am so grateful to the team for my new hips. They were amazing from start to finish, and should my knees go, they will be my first call.

I’m also grateful to yoga

Not because yoga “fixed” my hips—it didn’t. But because yoga taught me how to stay present when things were hard, how to breathe through discomfort, and how to keep showing up one day at a time.

Three months is still early, or so people keep saying!

But what a difference three months can make.

July 18 I’m in Kent for a rocket afternoon. Otherwise it’s my usual zoom and live classes in London. Hope to see you soon!

***Huge shout out to my amazing physio He is the one sorting out the mess in my spine from walking like a drunken cowboy for three years. 😂. Highly recommend him if you’re in London.

11 weeks today.

I am almost back to where I was.Actually, that is not quite true. I am already better than I was because my legs are finally the same length and I am no longer in constant pain.

I am back in my warriors, triangles, handstands, and all the things I love, these glute stabilising exercises are now part of my daily routine too.

My consistent yoga practice made this recovery so much smoother. And I do not just mean the physical practice. When movement became limited, meditation, breath, and discipline were still there. I could still do the actual yoga.

The new hips have given me enormous relief and a chance to rebuild. It’s like being a beginner all over again with 30 years of experience.

Full schedule is back on! (Plus this Friday 6:15 rocket 3 at Mission)

Thank you all for an amazing week!!!! Up close and personal deep dive into rocket 1 for some and a dip the toes in party for others. In Rocket yoga you get to do what you want. This is one of the many reasons we love it.

Today was my last hydrotherapy session before I take off tomorrow.

This work is such an important part of my recovery. I am learning how to drive my new car without dropping the transmission in the road or wearing out the tires with misalignment thanks to my task master , who has already transformed my walk and posture. (He’s hydro/ohysio/pilates master/and def some kind of massage)

Six weeks ago I had both hips replaced. (Thank you ). I celebrated with a handstand.

In between, there has been yoga, strength work, physio, and consistent effort.

Hips are ready just in time for the trainings, and I am also looking forward to returning home afterwards and resuming my regular classes.

Still super chuffed by prof wilson saying my muscles were amazing (he had an inside view). I hadn’t been able to do much at all except remnants of my yoga practice, especially at the end. Great to have someone who has seen the inside report on the effects of yoga! Like a pre-cadaver study!

Anyhoo. Big thanks to yoga for keeping my hips going this long, drs Wilson and Kley () for my new titanium hips, and for getting them moving again.
