Collagen matrix stiffening*occurs through two main categories of cross-links: Enzymatic (controlled, physiological) and Non-enzymatic/sugar-based (Advanced Glycation End-products or AGEs, often pathological when excessive).
Both increase stiffness but differ in mechanism, control, benefits, and downside, especially relevant for tendons in athletic contexts
Sooo how can you help yourself? I'll give a few tips for ya
- Consistent mechanical loading (specific training program we can do): isometrics at specific angles + plyometrics like depth jumps) upregulates LOX and promotes organized, functional cross-links.
- Collagen peptide supplementation + (.... Secret)
- Timing: Take collagen ~60 minutes before tendon-loading sessions + (Secret for Team Fitness Frase Athletes)
